Sending him to Sporting Lisbon on loan apparently, would be a good league for a young player to get experience.
Would have thought heāll have a good chance of getting a visa all things considered.
Not sure. Doesnāt seem to have any European family members like Pitagula (German) so heās at a disadvantage there. Also hasnāt played enough for his country, and the transfer fee is low so he doesnāt get a lot of points on the qualifying table.
Surprised if he goes Lisbon in all honesty. Playing second division football in Ghana to a good European side seems a large jump in quality.
Heās a youth player, itās a fairly pricey deal for a youth player and at 17 may have been capped by a senior international side. Pretty sure he stands an excellent chance of a work permit.
Is young kid happening for real, or just twitter talk?
Pricey for youth but I donāt think visa requirements care for youth. Like they look at it like if you were signed for 100 million like someone like Salah would he would likely get a visa but 1.5 million is nothing compared to that. Itās harsh but Brexit has complicated matters, but notoriously Britain is very difficult for non Eu lads to get into the country. Hence the lack of young African players in the league
Iād say a very good chance atm. Still gossip but no smoke without fire on this imo
Pretty sure heāll walk the exceptional talent requirements if heās about to get capped, surely heās had caps at youth level for his country to pass the percentage of games etc the rules need?

The player must have participated in at least 75% of his home countryās senior competitive international matches where he was available for selection during the two years preceding the date of the application; (In the case of players aged 21 or under at the time of application, the period is reduced to one year) which is his case.
-
The playerās National Association must be at or above 70th place in the official FIFA World Rankings when averaged over the two years preceding the date of the application.
Ghana is probably good enough country but he hasnāt got a senior competitive cap yet.
The kid can hit a ball, Iāll give him that!
Over the years we have snapped up a lot of youngsters who were exciting. It is a massive gap from where he is nowā¦ to our first team.
Still, good luck to the kid. And if we have indeed snapped him up itās a good sign that we like what we see, and at the price mooted, itās pennies in the grand scheme of things.
Could go on to have a massive upside and get to the first team. Could go on to carve out a lower level professional career. Impossible to say at present, but good luck to him!
Sod it! Heās the next Messi. Nailed on.
Theyāre just the standard rules for an automatic permit not the rules for exceptional talent. Heās 17 and already appeared in 1 of only 9 games Ghana have played in the last 12 months. Some he missed due to other national team commitments so that āwhere he was available for selectionā loophole may come into play somehow. I think heāll get a permit. This isnāt like 21 year old Anderson Arroyo or Awoniyi who is 23 and neither have yet been capped at senior level. This is a 17 year old who has already played in a senior friendly and looks set to appear at senior level more this summer too.
We donāt lose many people from that age range to it. Would only become an issue if later on, when heās been here years, we add a whole lot of players in his areas of the pitch that are AFCON competitors.
According to that gentleman that authored those tweets above heās been added to the Ghana senior side for the upcoming friendlies.
Question for someone more in the know than myself, do friendlies count as official caps?
EDIT: just found my answer, appears it does not count.
Not sure how we can sign a 17 year old if British clubs arenāt allowed to sign under-18s from overseas?
Iām a little but surprised that people are surprised at the 6m price tag for Shaqiri, I thought weād be lucky to get that.
Since when?
Why? Heās a star international player established in the PL, would do a very good job at a mid table team.
I thought that was the post Brexit impact that started this year? No more signing of players below 18
From EU surely?
According to the FA (published on 1st December 2020):
In the Premier League, the number of overseas U21 players a club can sign will be limited to three in the January transfer window and six per season moving forwards. This enables the recruitment of the best players from around the world to train and play together with homegrown talent. Under FIFAās rules, the UKās exit from the EU will also mean that clubs will not be able to sign players from overseas until they are 18.
