The Unreliable Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 1)

One of the most baffling transfers and worst players I’ve ever seen play. His was a transfer that really had me underwhelmed.

No, no, no, no. We don’t need a CF who misses 10 chances to score one.

That’s great news and without getting injured. Yet.

I’m with @Dutch. Admittedly I haven’t seen Malen play for any great length of time but I have no idea what the hype is. I don’t at all think he’s at this level.

And with Raiola making the “triple his wages” demand I can’t imagine he’s a realistic Liverpool target.

Malen just seems like a move purely for squad depth with the idea being he could actually blossom and be much better here under Klopp than previously shown and therefore become more than that. Maybe a bit more somewhere between Shaqiri (more doubts) and Jota (less doubts). But because of his agent I only see it happening if there’s guarantees he’ll be a main/important player for us and we won’t be able to do that so I don’t see it happening. Don’t think trebling his wage would be a problem even for that role in theory. But seems to me if we brought him in that’d shape up very much as Elliott and Malen as the wide back ups to Salah and Mane with Jota as a dedicated central option competing with Firmino. Not sure that’s what I want. Think I prefer Jota and Elliott the wide back ups with a different type of more traditional CF as the new guy.

Yeah; we’ve already got plenty of those.

Yeah, agree.

I thought Doku looked a better bet. At least had something different and the pace and flair to scare defenders from the bench. If he came on you would take note.

If Origi came on you would take a cigar.

Bayer Leverkusen want Ojo to replace Gray.

I like the Bowen link, he’s been very impressive since signing for West Ham.

I’m sure there’ll be many turning their nose up at him, just as with Barnes last summer, but it’s easy to see why Klopp would like him with his physicality and work rate.

If we were to replace Shaqiri and Wilson with him that’d be a substantial upgrade.

If we were to replace Shaq and Origi with someone who actually contributes anything it would be an upgrade. Not quite the kind of name you’re hoping to see and I’m sure West Ham would want a fortune for him but an interesting new name to emerge.

Feels like a similar type of signing to Jota, if it were to happen.

I haven’t seen the link (or the player) is he any relation to Mark Bowen, the former Welsh international? (I think he may have been a full back who played for Norwich and Swindon?)

I think that may be true for a lot of our fans - but given the success we had with Robbo, I would be excited by it to see what magic Klopp and the boys can weave with him.

I waited for someone else to write something good about him before giving my two cents. :joy: I like him a lot but only as an impact player. If Liverpool could sell Shaqiri and basically replace Origi with Bowen, I’d be pretty happy about it. Top Italian clubs often make similar transfers, only without the ridicule and looking down on such players from the proverbial high horse. Bowen is direct and hard working enough to be a good option from the bench and didn’t wilt in Premier League.

seems a strange shout, but hopefully true. Ojo is a talented player that I and probably others here thought would break through here and be at least an option for the squad but it hasn’t worked out for him. A spell in Germany could give him a nice change of pace.

Couldn’t quite remember who he is, so I googled him. Apparently he’s a ‘budget Arjen Robben’. It was on wikipedia, so it must be true.

It would, and I like him too, but I still think we ought to be aiming higher.

I think we all like the fancy names we get linked with but realistically we were never going to be seeing an Mbappe or Sancho arrive without Salah or Mane leaving first.

The fact it comes from Pearce makes me think there’s probably a high chance it’s a bit of cloaks and mirrors but if it turns out to be true it’ll certainly be interesting to see what Klopp can do with him as he has a good toolset.

What kind of price range would Bowen cost? Don’t know much about him.
