The Unreliable Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 1)

It should not be forgotten what role he would be playing here. As I was making the point with Tammy last month, I am not sure Bowen has a track record of scoring coming off the bench whereas Jota does. That will be the role Bowen would likely have here. He had a fuck-tonne of starts for Hammers from what I can see.

Not doubting the choice if legit. Normal LFC “let’s see if Klopp can work his magic yada yada yada” preamble applies:

Bowen 20/21
1 goal every 330 minutes
1 assist every 440 minutes

Jota 20/21
1 goal every 135 minutes
1 assist every 1763 minutes

Jota 19/20
1 goal every 191 minutes
1 assist every 510 minutes

Would just prefer to buy an attacker that’s better than Ox in that case, think that should be possible for the price Bowen would command.

Bowen looks like a proper red herring drop personally. Just don’t see us paying £40mil ish for a 5th choice.

And the rest. Contracted to 2025.

Pereira from West Brom could be a good alternative

I REALLY want Raphinha, but LFC are really in trouble when it comes to home grown status. They’re gonna have to bite the bullet and pay the English Tax…
I CAN’T for the life of me understand why they don’t have a backup tender who is English…

I assume you meant striker? Probably because there is none. Apart from Sancho who’s now gone, I can’t think of any English forward that I’d want

So it is bullshit.

Same with Pearce, desperate for subscriptions and clicks.

If we do go down that route, an option I’d like the throw in the mix is Ivan Toney.

Can’t see Brentford staying up, and having had a taste of the Premier League he could be one they would consider selling to finance their next rebuild

Villa rumored in for Leon Bailey and for just 30m. He seem to have gone off the radar but had a pretty good season last season, 17 goal involvement. Anyone who watches the German league? Thought he seem to be the kind of profile we would look at

Absolutely, agree with that :+1:

Noni Madueke at PSV could be another option. Pretty sure he’d qualify as homegrown but I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong on that one.

A left-footed right winger with all the physical attributes you’d want. Whether he’s the level we need or not I’m not sure but he’s young enough to develop behind Salah and if it didn’t work out you’d probably still get a decent fee selling him in England again.

Plays for PSV so probably won’t be that expensive and is rumoured to be on Dortmund’s list of potential Sancho replacements and on Leicester City’s radar too. He’d be a bit left field and a departure from our usual profile but if we need homegrown (and he counts???) then he could be an interesting option if wide forward is the way we’re going.

I’ve watched him a fair bit over the last 2-3 years. Thought he looked very exciting when I first saw him play, but I feel his movement off the ball is lacking a bit. In a Liverpool context that is. For me thats a must have for a winger in our system as long as we use a false 9 as frequently as we do.

Different conversation if that changes obviously.

Surely something that could be developed

Because he left for PSV at a young age he wouldn’t yet qualify. I’m pretty sure you can accumulate the required number of years non-consecutively and if so he’s still young enough to get there if he were to come back to England now.

Is he also young enough not to have to register him as a foreign player? Or have I got the wrong end of the stick on the rules?

In the league he would automatically be a B list player because of his age. In the CL he would have to be registered as an A list player because those B list kids have to have been with you for 2 seasons before they get to be put on that list.

So in the CL it would be a weird situation where he would have to be registered as one of the 17 for CL games for 1 or 2 years before then being able to be registered as one of the 4 Association trained players thereafter (or possibly going on the B list for a season before being Association trained - not sure of the actual number of years in play).

In the league he’d be on the B list until he was old enough to have to be listed in the 25, but which time he’d be one of the 4 association trained.

Regarding Leon Bailey, undeniable potential and natural ability but his attitude has been questioned by both Leverkusen and the Jamaican national team President.

Much obliged.

Imagine the UK and Europe not having the same criteria for something and it causing us in this country a load of hassle.

I guess there’s still some merit in seeing him as “homegrown” even if the full benefit would be two years away.

I don’t even understand this. it’s like a yapping little dog or a whiny child. you’re rewarding their behaviour with attention.

the sooner that we ignore stupidity in social media, the better off we will be. spotlighting it only condones the behavior by way of providing it the attention it’s so desparately seeking. :man_facepalming:
