Hmm £12m or €12m for Wilson. Don’t see why it’d be in Euros not pounds so surely just a typo in the tweet?
I’d imagine £10.2mil + a 20% sell on fee!
Why wouldn’t UK sources say that though?
I’m happy for young Wilson. Will always follow his career and wish him the best.
I don’t think he was ever given a proper chance under Klopp but what do I know.
Amazing news.
it looks very much what he said to Gini more or less when he wanted to leave?
In fairness, not fit to lace the boots of the Quaresma rumours. We signed him 18 times over 3 seasons as I remember and pretty sure he still has a house, car, swimming pool and kids’ places at school in Liverpool.
Still has a car waiting for him at John Lennon.
Turns left on the Babelcopter.
I think this is completely unfair on Klopp and the coaching staff.
I’ve thought for awhile that Klopp may place too much emphasis on training (but what would I know ) compared to on pitch performance. Some players just seem to be used over and over despite not doing too well like Origi sometimes and the other way round for some others. Sometimes a player may not be expected to do well but when you get him on the pitch something can click and they can do far better than expected. Wilson may have trained a lot with Klopp over the summer camps but he’s only actually played twice for Klopp being on the pitch for a real low 115 minutes. We can’t know but there is obviously the chance that if he’d got some playing time under Klopp he might have done better and earned a stay.
Ooo, Ooo, Robertson and Fabinho!
I dont see any justification for that though. Klopp has a history of giving young players a chance. The fact that Klopp didn’t pick him speaks volumes about his thoughts on Wilson’s suitability for the team/squad.
Klopp has admitted several times in the past that players have surprised him when they’ve got on the pitch with how much better they’ve done than expected. If you don’t then say for 100% that a player would not have done better than Klopp expected once given a chance on the pitch. No matter how likely Klopp is to have got it right it’s simply not possible that we can know because it was never allowed to be checked.
Wrong kid at the wrong time?
Wilson always appeared more of a luxury, drift in and out of the game player. Much like Origi. I don’t think they suit Klopps style or effort requirements.
They almost certainly don’t. But you can’t know Wilson definitely can’t follow Klopps tactical instructions within actual games without trying him in games no matter how likely the result. As I’ve said Klopp himself has admitted to being wrong about these things in the past so we can’t know for certain, no matter how likely, what the result of Wilson getting playing time under Klopp would have been. Therefore he wasn’t ever given that proper chance as @Neukölln said above which I think he was right about.
But nobody is right all the time. Even Klopp makes mistakes.
Nearly paid for Konate with players who weren’t even at the club last season.
Yes, but the same mistake each year for 5 years? I dont think so.
