We’ve probably got a few deals lined up in the background if we are able to reduce the wage bill and move on fringe players but it wouldn’t surprise me if Origi and Shaqiri stayed and we didn’t bring anyone else in.
Isn’t your theory already sunk with the Konate signing which is this window.
I know it’s fun to be edgy, and I like your style but you clearly didn’t absorb or comprehend my post. And in kind, I’m really sorry to sink your Edgelord strike.
It always amazes me how easily triggered Liverpool supporters can be.
I’ll check back in Matchday 1 of the season. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
I think we need new blood and fresh faces. The more competition for places, the better. The less stale and ordinary things get with the same players, the better. And that’s without considering that Chamberlain and Keita are prone to breaking down at any moment which would leave us scrambling at the last minute.
I wouldn’t like our chances if we were to start the season with Konate as the only senior transfer. Both the attack and the midfield could use someone who could come in and immediately contribute either from the bench or as a starter.
For a moment, you sounded like a vampire
Agreed. Up front it would be great to have someone who offers more than Shaq or Origi.
Midfield would be fine if we could rely on Naby and Ox staying fit, but surely we have learned our lesson there.
Don’t stay out until then! You are a good red and a good poster. Let’s not get the arse with each other, over nothing!
To answer the question, I think there’s a chance we won’t sign any more, largely due to space, as Jurgen doesn’t like working with a bloated squad.
However, my best guess is one, possibly two more players, who can come in and do well in the first team set up. A midfielder and a striker… though more outgoings are needed.
Tbf, we’ve been interested in Chiesa for a few years and it’s easy to see why.
Definitely think we’ll sign another player to be part of the core 15 or so. Ie, definitely one who’ll either start or be in the match day squad.
I think we will sign a CM if the right player is available for the right price. If not then I think we will go ahead with what we have and it won’t be massive problem
If you had made it clear you were including Konate it would have been easier to agree with.
I won’t mind too much if we don’t bring in an attacker. I can live with that, but not bringing in another midfielder would be as dumb as going into last season with only 3 CBs.
So who do we have for our midfield?
Henderson, Thiago, Fabinho, Keïta, Shaqiri, Ox, Jones and Milner, that’s 8, I don’t see them bringing in another midfielder if everybody stays.
Minamino also attacking mid/winger.

I don’t see anybody arriving unless there are departures but it’s false strength.
Shaqiri is an attacker he’s just unsuited to our attack so sometimes gets used in midfield. He’s also a bit injury prone.
Ox is as much an attacker as midfielder but really can’t be relied upon, he’s essentially half a choice at this stage.
Keita has same availability issues as Ox so yet again half a choice at best.
Milner is getting older and it’s starting to catch up on him. He won’t be going forever.
So for me for 3 positions it’s Fabinho, Thiago, Henderson and Jones (although Thiago and Henderson aren’t without some injury issues and Jones is still young/developing). They’re backed up by aging Milner, Keita and Ox when available and when Ox isn’t in attack and Shaqiri/Minamino etc. in emergency situations.
We really need to move on Keita and Ox to make room to get a dependable, quality choice in. But whether we do that or not I’d say its something that would dramatically improve our chances of success next season if we can.
Ox has been fit since Autumn last year. Hopefully his injury issues are behind him and he can find some form. Would be surprised to see either him or Naby sold at this point; but would also expect to see someone in, especially if Shaq is sold.
There has also been talk of Elliot getting playing time in an advanced midfield role.
If no midfielders are sold, then I really doubt that we’ll be buying one. It does seem increasingly likely that no midfielders will be sold. Up front however, Origi and Shaqiri will probably be sold if we find buyers, and maybe Minamino will be loaned out to Southampton again. In which case we would have to buy a forward.
I’m worried that we could have an injury crisis among out forwards. They’ve been playing virtually no-stop for about three years so it wouldn’t be surprising if we had the same situation as with our CBs last season, and that was partly down to not replacing Lovren.
Ox has been fit since Autumn last year.
Then he hasn’t played much because Klopp hasn’t wanted to use him or didn’t trust him. Either way that’s even more concerning and more reason to let him go. Keep in mind Ox and Keita have only 2 years on their contracts left. We are basically faced with 3 options;
1; Extend their contracts, this would probably require an increase in pay though and they’re apparently on the higher end when it comes to salaries and probably aren’t justifying their current deals.
2; Leave them to get down to final year of their deals hoping that they either do enough to earn a longer stay here or sell without too much of a drop in price after they get to final year.
3; Sell this summer whilst they’re still under long term contracts. Hope for offers that are at least reasonable.
I’d be surprised if either leaves, even more so if both do.
I’m quite relaxed about them both staying on this coming season, although it’s very much now or never.
