The Unreliable Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 1)

I’m a massive fan of Mo & Sadio. Hadn’t realised until this weekend though that their goal scoring achievements for us were better than Ronaldo’s at Utd.

On Mo and Mane, both of them have contracts till 2023. Both of them would be 29 by the end of this season, giving them another 2 seasons on the contract. There have been rumours of contract extensions for both but nothing is confirmed of course. I am not sure, from the current situations that Mane or Salah have any motivation to move to any of the other big clubs in Europe. And even if they have, with 2 years left after this season, I also cannot see the club letting them go without a bid pushing close to 150mil. And considering that price, would any of the big clubs put up that money for 29 year olds amongst other options? Definitely there will be interest but I see both of them either signing extensions with us until 24/25 or if they want to go back to their home clubs etc, they might just finish their contract with us and leave on a free but I think the former is more likely.

In fact I do not see any of our front 3 leaving on their own intent unless the club receives ridiculous bids from them. I see all 3 of them signing extensions to 24/25 to bring them into the 32/33 year olds which I think would be just nice for them to either go to a slower league or onto other priorities in their life.

And even if they do leave, unless Mbappe makes it clear that we are the only club he wants to come to, pretty much like what Thiago has supposedly done, I find it hard pressed to find Klopp going into a bidding war with the other interested parties.

this was it for me too. He plays off the left like Mane does so fit wise, it’d be better for Mane to go but I can’t bring myself to get excited about an outcome where that is the case.

Sarr rumours still circulating despite Jota arrival

Mbappe has played more from the right or centre than the left. He can play in any of the 3 positions.

It would make more sense for him to replace Salah than Mane IMO. He’d be the main goal throat, like Salah, and you’d keep Mane’s superior work rate and quality on the ball.

Mane’s also our best player. Keep.

Mo’s dispensable not Sadio and Bobby

Not from any reputable sources though. But if we do a similar deal with Watford that we did with Wolves. Wouldn’t surprise me. I did mention that just because we got Jota doesn’t mean we wouldnt be interested in Sarr.

So far, yeah. But lately he’s played more off the left. In the CL final, PSG flipped to Neymar in a #10/false 9 central role and Mbappe in that left channel. France as well, will be interesting to see how they change now with Matuidi going to America and maybe he’ll play less and less. Deschamps flipped to a 3 at the back and Mbappe played the left sided striker role. Naturally, as he becomes more important, I think he’ll want to (and rightly so) play more off the left, if he “can’t” play centrally. Faces the goal more. So in a crazy world, if he was here, maybe Mane would be shifted to the right side. But I don’t see it happening. I see Real making all the preparations in advance for that transfer next year.

Doesn’t really matter though, both he and Mane can play on either side. No problem them being in the same team.

Yeah, absolutely, Mane’s work ethic would be great balance with them two. I agree that he’d be best to replace Salah. But I see him playing with/instead of Benzema from 2021 and then probably replace him as Real’s main striker.

Probably yeah. Wouldn’t have thought it was possible not so long ago but the club’s standing just continues to grow. Another successful season this year and I wouldn’t rule it out.

If we can move on certain players (Origi,Shaqiri,Grujic,Wilson,Karius)whose time should be up with us then we would have more than enough money to add to the current squad without missing those who would/should leave.

That perception might be skewed a bit because C. Ronaldo was younger than both at the time, though he did play in a slightly weaker league but in a dominant side. Still, on the account of their time with Liverpool, there’s no one I’d rather have than Mane and Salah and I hope they can carry on playing like they have so far. Obviously, club will be planning for their long-term replacements, I just don’t think that Mbappe will be one of them, all joking aside.

I see us certainly being able to bring him to the table/on the phone line and he’ll at least want to hear what we have to offer. I think we’re good enough for that, maybe as a middle step between a PSG and a Real down the line, in a few years. We tried two times, there’s obvious respect and admiration between the two camps (maybe also why links keep popping up). But I think he’ll want that next step immediately. I know Real aren’t great (they often aren’t great as a collective, but almost always a bunch of great individuals), but it’s how it is, most great players still want to go there.

15m - 20m for Brewster from the sound of it. Then we are looking at a similar amount for Origi. Grujic and Wilson might be 12-15m each.

The question of affordability doesn’t arise. We might need to pay Karius off to get him to leave the club though , Don’t see any suitors for him , but atleast he’s not a huge drain on the wagebill.

It’ll be about planning for the future gen with Mo and Mane.

I can go better

Express is reporting we agreed a fee with watford for Sarr?

We’ll know once the mouthpieces speak about it.

I cant see there being any truth to these Sarr rumours now. We have our forward options, and I cant see Watford bending over backwards to sell to us.
