The Unreliable Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 1)

This is what I expect, too. With all the loan fees and clubs covering his wages, the club will have likely made a minimal loss on him if they released him on a free transfer. I wouldn’t be surprised if his next move is to a club in a significantly weaker league, one that otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford him.

I think his career will never recover. He is one of the few punts we have made that failed. Well and truly…

totally…

completely…

utterly…

I don’t know if it is a fact but I have been suspecting it since we brought Konaté in. Jota and Elliott will backup Mané and Salah and Ox/Origi will do the same with Firmino. On midfield, we have about 8 choices.

I would be surprised if they brought another player in.

I wonder if Uberkoen was among those who turned off the 2005 final at half time?

Maybe, but we don’t need to take that action now. Better to wait until the window closes and see if we can sell/loan him out so there is nothing for us to pay. While he is on our books I don’t see him being a blocker to any moves we make in this window.

Yeah even if things go wrong we don’t actually have to list him anyway. We have too many senior players, non homegrown in particular. But we don’t have to list them. Probably not something Klopp feels comfortable with but a player could be listed for Europe, Domestically, either or even neither. There will definitely be clubs that would take Minamino, Shaqiri, Origi and even Karius on loan if no buyers offer enough/no club the player will agree to move to makes an offer. If the player knows they won’t be listed for games they’ll take the loan. That’s worse case scenario and not one I expect, players will still leave.

My concern is that instead of buying a new Midfielder and a new Forward Keita, Ox and Minamino will be given chances instead. Don’t see Keita and Ox having miraculous recoveries and being able to withstand our intense style. So both will be in last 12 months of deals next year so even less likely to get decent fees and we’d have just pushed a problem a year down the line. Something we do a lot.

He is more of a player passing from deep and I think we have 2 very world class ones in Fabinho and Thiago…so not sure we need him…but still good to see a new name being linked~~~ makes reading this thread interesting at least haha!

It didn’t seem likely to me either, but at least it’s something to discuss.

Perhaps if we’re looking to play more 4231 next season an extra defensive specialist might be an idea, but i’m not sure i’ve seen anything to support that as yet.

Is he a pure #6 in our normal setup?

That’s as weird a link as I remember seeing.

As far as I know, but i’m just going off what i’ve read

It hasnt helped us that he’s been pretty crap at every club hes had a loan at.

No he hasn’t.

Which loan has karius performed well at then

I didn’t say he had played well. By all accounts his performances were inconsistent. Some good displays, some bad ones and the rest probably standard stuff. That doesn’t make him ‘pretty crap at every club’

Inconsistency in a goalie is not desirable

Sure. But it doesn’t mean you are ‘pretty crap’ either.

Karius did OK at Besiktas although evidently not well enough to persuade anyone to pay actual money for him. He only played 5 times for Union Berlin last season. Karius isn’t a problem. As ARD said he won’t be registered if we can’t get rid but it’s more likely we might subsidise his wage and he’ll end up playing in the Albanian super league or something.

The ones we need real interest in are Minamino, Shaqiri or Origi. I’m sure at least one of them will go but I think whatever club might be interested will wait until the end of the window and drive a hard bargain. That’s why I’m not expecting much transfer action from us until around the same time.

Would be pretty pleased with this if true.
