The Unreliable Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 1)

I am leaving it open to interpretation

If not looks like a Swansea loan for Rhys Williams instead.

Itā€™s definitely been timed for today

I donā€™t think anyone is doubting itā€¦.

Who cares?

Itā€™s not like it distracts anyone and no one there is going to think that this will distract fans clamouring for signings today. Maybe they just wanted to give Liverpool journos something to write about today or perhaps not everything is part of some secret master plan to play fans for fools all the time.

Canā€™t we just take the announcement for the positive news it is.

-Gut reaction, weā€™ve not bought so weā€™ll not do well. Kid in me wanting new toys.
-Gut reaction to new super league and shit whatā€™s that about, bloody owners wanting to cash in.
-Kid in me wanting a sugar daddy owner so we can buy anyone.

Shit like this is killing the sport. Weā€™ve got responsible owners not shady oneā€™s oil or just Glazers. Owners that arenā€™t placing huge debt on the club, providing stewardship for the next generation to at least have a team to follow. Previous owners would have bankrupted us by stripping us of our assets and via a leveraged purchase.

Iā€™ve watched the summer transfer market expecting someone else and we didnā€™t get anyone. Weā€™re actually using our youth! Weā€™re selling fringe players, renewing contracts, doing more responsible stuff and keeping a healthy balance at a time where horrible shit is happening and Covid etc. Lots said it already, freak season forced midfield to play defense, loads of injuries. Just hope a Rafa Everton, doesnā€™t kill us early on like last year.

We donā€™t actually know if signing another player would ā€œsecure future success and revenueā€ thoughā€¦and as for the magic of Klopp, as much as I love the guy, this is probably the best squad we have had for the last 40 yearsā€¦he isnā€™t going to war with a pea shooter here.

Itā€™s a new low, even by their standards.

And I again ask the question, why was Hendersonā€™s ā€œimproved dealā€ such a priority? With 2 years left in his existing deal, this was one they just had to renew now?

The club is creating a country club atmosphere where everyone sits around telling each other how wonderful they are, counting their money and never really being challenged for their jobs. Klopp is equally as guilty. And of course the majority of ā€œfansā€ fall in line.

Errrrrā€¦. No.

But thatā€™s for another day. :sunglasses:

Itā€™s the best squad 100% because of Klopp! If you donā€™t see these players post Klopp as massively different to pre Klopp I donā€™t understand you. These players, as they were before Klopp, would be a side most people would peg as struggling to make Champions League places, few good players like Alisson, Fabinho and VvD, couple of OK players like Roma Salah and Southampton Mane. A few inconsistent players who are good one game then rubbish for 5 like pre Klopp Firmino, Schalke Matip and Wolves Jota. Very few of our players would be at the level they are now without Klopp.

Edwards out!

We donā€™t have any pressing needs within the squad. The only pressing need was sorted on 28th May.

But this is why Klopp is great. You can do more with less. He brings out the best in the squad.

The other model is spending a billion on galacticos and winning the champions league with Roberto di Matteo.

Iā€™m not sure what everyone is getting upset about. FSG are doing things their own way. if we dont like it we can storm Anfield and try and force them out. But whatā€™s the guarantee that the next owner can compete with City, chelsea or PSG. There arenā€™t that many russian oligarchs and nation states floating around.

Itā€™s only necessary to have well timed PR Announcements because our fanbase has a significant number of Twitter based knicker pissers to deal with.

Itā€™s not far off. It certainly better than anything since the late eighties vintage.

Donā€™t disagree with that at all but he said in the last forty years, so since 1981.

Judging by many of the posts in here, itā€™s not just Twitter.

So we didnā€™t sign the flavour of the month boohoo. So we didnā€™t spend billions like drunken sailors boohoo.

Some of the perspectives in here are really so ridiculous itā€™s gone from sad to funny to sad again. 100% Klopp-magic rather than the fact that we actually identify good players who are on the cusp of taking the step to being great, with the right coaching and opportunities given. Makes it seem as though itā€™s some mojo when in reality itā€™s just a well-planned system thatā€™s bearing fruit at last.

So many people in here talking about selling Minamino when heā€™s clearly in JĆ¼rgenā€™s plans. If we wanted rid of him Southampton would have had an option to buy (regardless of whether they took it up). Griping about how Origi is our (effectively now) 6th choice forward despite the fact that when he was fourth choice, we didnā€™t do too badly. Nor did he, at a goal or assist roughly every 90 minutes, just behind Salah, that season we won the league. If we thought he was that bad, why would our valuation of him still be so high that no team could afford that?

But no, shiny new toys are what we need. The people managing the club are obviously chancers who are just making it up as they go along, without a plan, bumbling from success to success. JĆ¼rgen Klopp quite clearly handicapped by fools who donā€™t recognise his abilities to turn players into diamonds, not being backed. Especially when he refused to buy a centre-back for Ā£75m and had to be persuaded it was worth it. No, itā€™s quite clearly the owners being stingy toss-pots. The same owners who wanted to take pre-emptive action by furloughing staff, which all other large commercial entities with that level of revenue was allowed to do, but had to back down because of the moral outrage. The same owners who now have to deal with people slagging them off for not having money despite spending Ā£36m upfront on a brand new centre-back. The same owners who refused to break the transfer record on goalkeepers, the same owners who refused to break the transfer record for an African player.

For once, can we just not have little children whining on and on about how weā€™re not winning the transfer window? Please?

We only have 4 decent attacking options the manager actually wants to use. We field three per game. Two of them are guaranteed to miss sometime this season at the same time due to AFCON at the least and another one is currently injured. We are actually in a worse state in attack at the start of this season than we were at CB at the start of last season.
