The Unreliable Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 1)

Still paying off Alberto and Lucas

Great price for Brewster, good player but never suited our style I thought.

Think he would have stagnated with us so a move to Sheffield should suit him well, should be playing every week for them.

Think I would have taken the 12 + 4 from Burnley for Wilson too, don’t think we will do alot better than that and if push comes to shove I would have preferred to keep Shaq over Wilson.

Probably see a few more exits before the window closes Grujic looks in demand and should attract more than 15 you’d think. Origi may go as well plus a few more loanees you’d think.

All in all a great window for us, love Thiago just oozes class and Jota and Tsimkas give us that quality depth we needed at LB and upfront. Been lucky with injuries the last couple of seasons thanfully we don’t have to rely on luck anymore.

I do wonder if it’s wise to sell anyone else especially as Covid seems to be brushing our squad, can just pray we face no other players missing from it.

If players drop out in cycles it’s kind of fine and they suffer no further ill effects but if we lose 4 or 5 at one time that’s when it gets concerning as I would only expect a squad wide loss to allow a cancellation.

Hope this is true. Same that had Jota news I’m told.

That would be fucking funny. Not sure where he’d fit in for us though. Think our focus is likely to be elsewhere next summer.

Wijnaldum to leave as a free agent and Chamberlain to be sold? Club have been following him for quite a while, so these might be Klopp’s and Edwards’ next moves. That said, I really don’t believe some random guy on Twitter, especially as Arsenal looked likely to buy him, only if they paid what Lyon wanted, which isn’t Sancho-level of investment.

IMO more likely that Milner leaves than Ox.

I think most of our focus will be on attack and CB but wouldn’t rule out a CM next summer or the one after. Wijnaldum will probably be chalked off as the extra we go with for this ridiculous season but Milner and Ox (as things stand) seem to have limited lifespans here.

Unlikely. Milly’s going to be playing for us until he’s 45.

I see Leicester want to sell Demarai Gray and he’s not in their squad for the West Ham game.
Anyone think we might put in cheeky low ball bid now that is off and maybe Wilson too.
Purely as cover of course.

No.

It was just a thought …that maybe I shouldn’t have had!

Milner has to leave at some time. Hendo, Gini, and Thiago are at an age (and with Gini stage of contract) where we have to think about how to move on. We probably have to have to plan to be without Ox, even if he isnt sold. Just from pure bodies perspective, bringing in a younger midfielder next summer is exactly what Id expect us to do.

What’s he like in Goal?

I would be cutting our losses on Keita too.

To be fair we do have the replacements in midfield.

Pearce:

Not expecting Origi to leave and not expecting any more incomings.

Though that was also before the game… :joy:

GAZZANIGA INTEREST

First up is the news that Liverpool are chasing goalkeeper reinforcements today after Alisson Becker’s injury which could see him ruled out for more than six weeks, and The Independent understands that Liverpool have made contact with Tottenham over a possible deal for Paulo Gazzaniga .

Gazzaniga impressed last season in the Spurs goal standing in for injured captain Hugo Lloris, but has found himself on the fringes this season with Lloris’s return and the signing of Joe Hart.

After Adrian’s shocker last night, where he conceded seven goals at Aston Villa, a goalkeeper is thought to be high on Jurgen Klopp’s emergency shopping list today in order to get their title defence back on track.

I’d file this under ā€œvery unreliableā€ because they seem to have got the news from some random Twitter account but stranger things have happened, I guess…

Wouldn’t be against the idea and I reckon it’s a possibility, seems frozen out at Spurs and yet I don’t think he was bad in the Lloris injury period.

I really don’t know if he is better than Adrian.

The issue we’re going to have to look at, and it isn’t nice, is Alisson’s availability. If he’s going to miss 10+ games a season, like he did last year and looks like he might this year, then we need to find a much better second choice. Adrian only really makes sense if Alisson is dependable fitness wise.
