Thing is if Alisson was to go down then we have Kellher.
Gazzaniga was better than Alisson showed last night, he looked sluggish when going for the shots he didn’t save and the only one he did save looked rather odd for a keeper.
Needs must, if he is available even for a loan I think it’s something that needs considering. If I’m totally honest.
Still baffles me that Jose went and got Joe Hart in, I expected Spurs would buy a first choice if anything as Lloris looked worse than Gazzaniga at times.
One Tottenham player more likely to be on the move today is third-choice goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga, who Spurs would be happy to let go, most likely on loan. Rumours of a Liverpool bid though are understood to be wide of the mark.
Joe Hart is utterly shit. No idea why Maureen wants him.
He couldn’t even start for Burnley when their first choice was injured and flopped at every club he has been at since he left City.
Lets face it - We aren’t going to get a keeper close to Alisson but we need someone who gives defence confidence. What we are seeing now is the same as when Karius played - the defence have no faith in Adrian.
I don’t believe for one second the club isn’t working the phones today for a Keep. Challenge is, after last night clubs likely aren’t going to go out of their way to help us. I think they club is trying, but I’ll be mildly stunned if they pull a deal together today for a Keep.
And I agree with the Kiev Karius comparisons with Adrian. Liverpool Football Club is not net-ahead having Adrian as a backup in lieu of Karius. And this is rather petty of me to say, I don’t care…Karius as a member of the club is exponentially easier to root for than Adrian. While limited, Karius really does give everything he has and is genuinely earnest in his approach. Adrian strikes me a camera hungry smug attention hound, who prefers shifting blame rather than owning his own mistakes. I said yesterday, whether we like it or not, Adrian will be between the sticks until Thanksgiving so we better just learn to deal with it. My personal feelings aside, He’s a member of our club so we might as well back him unconditionally.
One other thing, I’m absolutely made up for Big Shaqs that it looks like he will be staying. We can use his quality and this will be his redemption song. If he can just stay healthy he will play a big part in this season.
When their loan plan fell through and they were told they had to offer genuine money their interest shrivelled up quicker than my testies that time I went for a swim off the coast of Aberdeen.
Whatever Mourinho sees in Gazzaniga I’ve seen differently if I’m honest, maybe he isn’t good at that fannying at the back they do… but if I’m honest what I saw of Gazzaniga I thought he was better than Lloris last season.
On a lighter note, Think the Italian club interest would have been cooked up by Arteta and Arsenal to stop Shaq from starting…We migh have well won that game had Shaq started… Hahaha…
Alisson has been expected to concede 72.8 goals in the Champions League and Premier League for the Reds but he’s actually shipped just 62 (excluding own goals). That essentially means he saved shots to an above average standard, overperforming his expected figures by 10.8 goals.
Adrian, on the other hand, has been expected to concede 15.4 goals yet he allowed 18 to be scored (excluding own goals); he’s underperformed his expected figures by 2.6 goals which means he’s performed to a slightly below average standard when it comes to stopping shots.
Alisson has faced a total of 253 shots on target in those two competitions, saving 193 of them which leaves an impressive save percentage of 75.9%.
To compare, Adrian has faced 43 shots on target with 25 of those saved, which equates to a save percentage of just 58.1%.
For context, the worst starting goalkeeper in the Premier League last season was Kepa Arrizabalaga who posted a save percentage of just 54.5%, but the next-worst was Jordan Pickford on 63.4%.
Adrian’s save % in the league last year was 64.3%. Including yesterday his save % in the league with us is now 56.4% (yesterday’s was 36.4% (4/11)).
Gazzaniga’s is apparently 71% (11th best in the league last year).
I think you’ve forgotten what actually happened with Karius. This was a lad who after costing us the Champions League made a flashy video of him fannying about in Hollywood or something. That hardly made him easy to root for.
I really don’t understand what you are basing this assessment of Adrian on. I get he had a poor game but is the character assassination necessary?
