I think Klopp already has Hendo playing there in training sessions.
Wolves will take us to the cleaners if we attempted to get conor. And i agree , hes largely a david luiz type of defender who only works in a back three.
Also dont see him as being a substantial enough upgrade over rhys , nat phillips to warrant a move. Is je as good in his system as joe gomez is in ours , yes…potentially. But that ain’t good enough
This over at TIA, our old home. As attractive as this might seem, we need a player right now. If this is real then that requires at least 2 defenders to come in, and the waning possibility of fate, having taken 2 players on a free from Bayern, no we dont get to keep Gini.
Agreed. I have zero interest in Alaba on July 1st. Zero.
I’d buy a younger defender now (around 20-22 years old), and take Alaba on a free in July, letting Matip go and leaving us with Van Dijk, Alaba, Gomez and the one we bring in now.
That would be incredible.
Or we keep Matip, take a player on loan now, and then get Alaba in the summer.
Can you imagine a pairing of Van Dijk and Alaba? None shall fucking pass.
Eh, a clear downgrade on Matip + Van Dijk.
Alaba would be a great pickup for his versatility but he’s not a better option (ability wise) than what we currently have a centre back.
Any centre back signing needs to come from a British club or has played in England before to aid acclimatising so Dejan anyone.
I wouldn’t play Alaba at CB in our style of play except in emergencies personally (not that my opinion matters).
But his flexibility and quality could be real useful especially with Milner getting on and one day moving on or hanging up his boots.
If I brought Alaba in it would be for CM mostly and cover across the defence in emergencies. That could help the CB situation by allowing Fabinho to be free to play there.
Don’t see it happening though. In a different set up he will be a cracking star CB option for few years yet.
From the BBC gossip page
Liverpool have ended interest in Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar, 25, having been put off by the Serie A side’s £54m asking price. (Calciomercato - in Italian)
Well that at least tells me they were in for him, and that makes me happy. He was on my list.
EDIT: the prices for CB will be a bit askew this window but for the record I think £54m is a tad high for Škriniar, and I really like him.

The last guy with a name starting with Š was an ok defender. If we going after defenders with exotic squiggles in their name, I personally prefer a defender that ends his name with an ä
I was hoping the interest didn’t even start.
What about Bastoni?
fwiw, Alaba was reported as being “categorically disinterested in a move to England” a month or two ago
What do you have against Škriniar?
Given our current situation and the proven fragility of Matip, even David Moyes would be looking for a replacement in Klopp’s position and he’s less managerial nouse than Olaf the Hairy. Famous for once ordering 100 armoured battle helmets with the horns on the inside.
I know this is posted in the Unreliable Rumours section and that it was part of a funny sentence, but no such man existed outside Blackadder, and in that sketch it was 80 000 helmets on horns on the inside and that Olaf was king of all the Vikings.
Mostly I am just answering this because, well, I don’t know really, but I guess I want people to know that horned helmets were never a real thing despite the depictions of such in movies, paintings and drawings. A horned helmet would destroy the integrity of the helmet, so it was never made or worn. Only one such horned helmet has been found by archeologists and that was a ritualistic helmet used by a Germanic priest of Wotan/Odin, I believe. But warriors never used horned helmets, if they did, strikes to the head would kill them far easier.
And that’s why I love this place.
Helmets!

But what about wings, they had winged helmets right? Asking for a friend.
When Skrtel is your idol, there’s something wrong.
Joking. He does have some qualities, but I’m not that impressed, especially at such price.
