The Unreliable Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 2)

Well @Sweeting provided the statistic proof if I’m not mistaken, I have seen him play at Feyenoord and this WC and I am sticking to my opinion, this guy is not the midfielder that makes us better or is good enough to play for us.

You are welcome to your own opinion of course.

I think a big attraction of Caicedo was the assumption there would be a lot of value given his relative low profile. The sort of player you might be able to supplement your team with without having to give up your pursuit of your primary target. I think the attention he’s received since the summer has probably put paid to that idea. He still looks good and I wouldn’t rule out the signing, but I think he’s now become the sort of target teams would only be able to land if he was their priority or they had a ton of money to spend on more than one big singing.

Hitting that post with his knackers ruined his career.

And he didn’t even prevent the goal

and that ladies and gentlemen and everyone else, is where the saying
‘Moving the Goalposts’ came from…!

That defence rarely prevented any goal.

Unless the goal was for Babb to procreate and maintain a baritone voice

Mcgrath made him look better than he ever was.

I actually rated John Scales.

What is that rating from a Scale of 1-10?

Me too. Classy defender. He had the misfortune of having Babb (not good enough) and ruddock (too fat and unprofessional) as his cb partners.

I remember when our 3 at the back was a revelation! Papers analysing etc.

He also had the injury issue

We’ve gone from Ruddock and Scales to VVD and Konate/Matip/Gomez. Need to appreciate the good times as could easily go back again!

And whats the sample size of players that did very well at the world cup but not so well for their clubs? You can’t use the argument only one way.

P.S. I don’t know which player you guys are talking about by the way, I’m just saying in general it feels wrong to discount world cup performance.

I’ve only seen him this World Cup so not the 10 but this reports on the sources in the other parts of the site and it is rather exciting.

Only way would be some funding has already been agreed with a third party or a deal has been reached.

Anyhow with everything let’s see.

From today’s BBC gossip column…

Chelsea and Liverpool are both interested in signing Norway midfielder Sander Berge, 24, from Championship side Sheffield United. (Jeunesfooteux - in French)

Not sure which is worse: the player or the rumour. :joy:

Who, Sander Berge? Possibly more injury prone than Keita? He’d be getting pelters left right, and centre!

I mean if he’s breaking down with Sheffield Wednesday then he’d fall apart with our intensity, especially the amount of work our system asks of our midfielders.

Sheffield United even…
