Are their physios bored?
Nunes sounds like such a weird deal.
He was Wolves’ transfer record at €45m.
They will probably want their money back for having him only for a season.
Nunes was the 1 we shouldv’e got before he went there.
There’s a good chance they go down this season…think he could go for a bit less.
There was so much talk about our interest in him last summer that it seems odd we didnt sign him then. I wonder if the risk Klopp was calling for was of buying players like Matheus Nunes before they have acclimatised here?
My first guess is that we didn’t have the finances to do it then. Plus, maybe we hoped someone would come in for Ox and/or Keita. But that was always going to be hard.
I suppose one advantage we’ve seen when dealing with Wolves is their willingness to be flexible over payments, which could be useful when trying to squeeze in several incoming players in the one window.
There’s also willingness to do everything Jorge Mendes tells them to do. I wouldn’t be surprised if he only “parked” Nunes at Wolves until finances and a squad spot were available here.
Still, Nunes might be a top class signing but it’s Palhinha who’s caught my eye this season if we’re talking about Portuguese midfielders - I wonder if Mendes represents him as well and if there’s some release clause there.
You think so? They look to have improved significantly under Lopetegui. I think there are easily 3 worse teams than them likely to go down before them. Bournemouth, The Ev (let’s hope) and Southampton/Leeds.
I sure do.
Do you think the 3 worst teams always end up going down?
Look at it this way, just before the World Cup everybody had Forest as bankers to go down…look at the recent form now and where they are? Suddenly all those people, half start to think differently. Even Bournemouth under O’Neil in his first game after the 9-0 went 6 games unbeaten…and now have hit a dry spell again.
Wolves struggle to score goals…big time. I’m not saying they’ll definitely go but there’s a good chance.
Wolves are 1 of the few teams down there who have sacked their manager, who knows what happens with Everton, West Ham & Leeds once they sack their managers.
Paris St-Germain were prepared to let France striker Kylian Mbappe, 24, join Liverpool last summer but he rejected the potential move amid reports linking him with Real Madrid . (Athletic - subscription required)
Perhaps this will put paid to any lingering hopes of Mbappe ever playing for us. If true.
Yeah F*** him if he turned us down…
As Shankly once said when it happened to him…
We only wanted him for our reserves anyway
Literally how much would he have cost us?
PSG May have said you can go Liverpool, he may have said no. But I doubt we were waiting by the phone.
I haven’t seen 10 games but he’s been shite anytime I have seen him play
Arsenal in talks to sign Trossard
Thought Nunes was pretty good against us both times, definitely has a lot of quality with the ball.
Seen reports that a Brazilian club wants to take Arthur on loan for the rest of the season. May help freeing up a spot.
400mil!!! Haha insane.
and that’s before his wages, which I assume would be at least £500kpw
Interesting info, Neves says about Nunes that he’s the fastest midfielder he’s ever played with.
