The Unreliable Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 2)

Signing Mason might help us Mount a challenge for top 4.

But seriously, I think even if he only has 6 months left in his contract, Chelsea will never sell him on the cheap. They would rather let him run out his contract just to be spiteful. So with 18 months, I would not think they are gonna let him come to us for anything below 40m, just because they are that kind of bastards and honestly, because they could.

Ā£40mil would be a good fee, wages would be the interesting point.

Basically replacing Oxlade in the squad with someone 5 years younger and much less injury proneā€¦ Ā£40mil is very good value with this as a reference point.

40mil would be optimistic me, if they are being spiteful, they will not even sell. But if they do for some reason, I think 40mil is the least they will accept, maybe somewhere nearer to 45mil which of course is a fee that we can get plenty of players out there for, Mount might be worth that money considering he has been pretty good for Chelsea before this season, so lets see.

Maybe itā€™s just me. I think Mason is overrated and a bit of a cunt.

Steady on there Ifti!

Heā€™s good at winning free kicks, based on the first half of this game today!

Mount is a decent player, and even assuming we could get him for a reasonable fee, say Ā£40M, Iā€™m not sure heā€™d be worth the wages.

Another thing is what his signing would do to the emergence of Elliot and Carvalho.

For similar money to Mount, and a lot less wages, Iā€™d look at someone like Kudus.

Mount would be the biggest threat to Jones, in my opinion, as their positional versatility and attacking instincts are quite similar. I rate Mount highly and I donā€™t blame him for his downturn in form.

That said, with so many left-sided, right-footed midfielders and attackers, most of whom have only recently signed or extended, I think heā€™s a no-go.

Chelsea fans donā€™t rate Mount at all.

Probably because they didnā€™t spend 100m on him.

See also Tammy Abrahams.

Not sure why everyone is so enthusiastic for Mount.

Wouldnā€™t suit our front line. Not good enough on the ball to be particularly effective in midfield areas, not good enough defensively to make a big difference.

Decent technique, decent pace, works hard. Nothing special though, would be a pretty uninspiring signing for the price and if he wasnā€™t English he wouldnā€™t even be worth considering.

Should be aiming for players with stand out talent, weā€™ve got enough squad level players as it is.

I donā€™t think he is great but I also know enough Chelsea fans to know itā€™s all about what they spend on a player.

Doesnā€™t mean heā€™s great though. Neither is Tammy Abraham.

We can do better than that.

Yup but Chelsea fan opinion is garbage. That was the point I was making, like so many itā€™s clouded by how much the player cost. And theyā€™ve spent far more on players worse than those two.

Mount is certainly good enough (plus, he can still improve being 24) for all top clubs in England to have a thought about it, but I donā€™t see a big need for him from our side.

We simply need different qualities and heā€™s not even reached the ā€˜proper midfielderā€™ role yet in his evolution (who knows if he will ever become a CM).

Understand the interest he will attract, but Mount is not what Liverpool needs right now and we canā€™t just stockpile players just because theyā€™re good and their contracts are running out.

I donā€™t think Mount makes sense at all.

Our interest may just be to keep ourselves in the loop should we have a complete clear out of midfield and he then suits something we want?

Who can we buy from Juve?

Theyā€™ll all shit. :grinning:

These 2 would do me Bluff.
