Wasnā€™t really an attack on the club as such, we could do better in scouting young talents both locally and abroad was all I was getting at, if thats not a fair comment to make then others can feel that way.

Our issues are clear for all to see but thats going to carry on right through until the summer, No manager is capable of getting a performance out of this squad when you have the midfield we haveā€¦.not 1 above average performance since the season resumed.

Few players mentioned of other teams that you could say about say Solanke.

Sadly quiet in here. I suspect Gakpo locked the door behind him. Weā€™ve slammed shut folks, no helicopters, no planes and not even a rusty Ford Escort arriving with Barry Gordon from Halifax Town arriving.

Well he said that yesterday. Donā€™t need to repeat it 15 times.

I call bullshit. Anyone that watched the WC could see that Gakpo is not a pressing type player. I canā€™t believe that Klopp would have given the go ahead for such an average player.

Yeah, thatā€™s probably more Bascombe than Klopp.

Of course that our pressing from the front is the start of our pressing and defending game, itā€™s been lacking. Midfield and defence suffer because of it, albeit itā€™s not like we donā€™t have underperfoming players and partnerships there also. Also why weā€™ll love to have the likes of Bobby and Jota back soon.

But I wouldnā€™t go deeper than that. Itā€™s more than our gap on the left and the opportunity to get Gakpo was there, plus Klopp feeling like we have good numbers in midfield to go for big ones next summer.

The odd thing with the Gakpo signing is that we already have both Diaz and Jota who can play on the left. Obviously, both are injured at the moment but Gakpo isnā€™t a short term signing. I assumed that when we signed Diaz that he was the long term replacement for Mane (I didnā€™t realise that he would be leaving that summer) but signing another left sided player seems excessive.

Do you think that either Jota or Diaz has asked for a move in the summer?

Gakpo can play elsewhere, Jota can also play elsewhere.

For now, we have nothing to presume someone asked for a move.

Is it possible that something happens with one of our current 6 main forwards in the summer? Yes. But what and who, I donā€™t know. Itā€™s also perfectly possible that we go with those 6 into next season.

Might be an idea to tell him to lay off the Brussel sprouts

I will say that Gapko is not an obvious solution for a problem of the attack not pressing properly given that PSV dont play that way so I dont know what it is the analytic guys will have seen to identify that. But judging his ability to do it from the world cup while playing a team with a completely different tactical set up is not going tell you anything.

Iā€™m not saying youā€™re wrong, but JĆ¼rgen seems to be disagreeing with youā€¦

Cody helped us massively with the ball, without the ball, in the centre.

Is he trying to recreate the Gini experiment with Cody?

We are going to recreate the whole premier league winning team. Cody is also going to be the new Firmino :joy:

Klopp has said that he views Gakpo as a connector which was one of Firminoā€™s main strengths and heā€™s used him almost exclusively in the centre. He could very well be in line to assume Firminoā€™s role.

When we signed Gakpo I thought Klopp said he had been a target for the upcoming summer transfer window and they had simply brought it forward due to other clubs interest.

I wouldnā€™t have thought he is a direct replacement for Diaz or Jota but the injuries to them have provided an opportunity for the club to help him adapt before next season. There has been a suggestion he is viewed as Firminoā€™s replacement, I donā€™t know if that would be in terms of numbers of forwards we have or his actual role in the squad.

As @Limiescouse has pointed out, his previous club donā€™t play the way we have done so it is unlikely his arrival will allow us to play as we did with the others straightaway.

Hes only young but it would help if he played on the left as thats his position.
No idea why him and Nunez didnt swap yesterday as the last few games Nunez has been out wide hes struggled.

Jesus!! Are we this desperate?

Actually donā€™t answer that!

The last successful first team loan I can remember was deemed successful was Anelka. That should be a lesson
