Kamada would be more of a Bobby replacement, but as things stand Bobby will sign.
As for Kovacic, I agree I’d be interested, but Chelsea are most probably not going to sell to us. Who knows if they’ll even sell him.

No way that Chelsea sell Kovačić to us but he’s one of those players who should have played for Liverpool by now, so I hope we can nab him eventually. His injury record might not be perfect but he’s Mitch Buchannon compared to any of our current midfielders. As for his playing qualities, he’s just bloody outstanding, I’ve said it a million times. His technical ability is off the charts, his ball retention is amazing. If we want to play possession football, he’s a player we should be going after.
Hope we don’t go for someone like Kovacic…
Our midfield will begin to resemble the cast of Foggy, Compo & Clegg from Last of the Summer Wine… We need perfect athletes that can run and hunt down the ball for 95mins every 3 days for an entire season…
Kova can do both to a pretty good level.
Fantastic technique in small spaces, but also strong in transitions. Hard to find more CM’s who can carry the ball like he can through the midfield. One of the best transition midfielders out there. Also added aggression/maturity/efficiency in last seasons, or better to say, found that his best role is that LCM one.
A few years ago, he was still not concrete enough with his football. I liked his talent, but his development was lacking. They were searching his best position/role and he was not mature enough with his decision making. Style without substance. Also, he had to leave Real, he had simply better players ahead of him. Klopp was interested in him back when he was at Dortmund.
He was expected to be this more offensive minded CM, but you can see whenever he reaches the danger area, that’s not his forte. Don’t expect numbers from him, goals and assists, that’s not his game. At the age of 28, he will never become that. But neither did Gini and I rate Kova clearly higher than Gini in technical aspects (Gini has more maybe as an athlete who was fit all the time).
He’s a great guy, coaches love him. Tuchel said you can wake him up in the middle of the night for a training session and he’d be the first there.
Not gonna happen though. And I also think we’ll go for younger players, regardless of Kova being at his peak at 28 (and would be a good replacement for Keita on paper).
SSN linking us to Mason Mount this morning again. If we are going after any chelsea midfielder, i think hes the one. Home grown, might be a decept price too as hes down to 18 months on his contract.
Probably his agent or Sky doing the lazy bit, started on the bench yesterday, put his name out there, blah blah.
Don’t see the need for him, we need different type of players.
And we can’t just bring Mason Mount to just stockpile players, we have 30 seniors at the club right now and risking not to even play in Europe next season.
IMHO… He is a Joe Cole Mk II
No thanks on Mount. I just don’t see where he fits in the squad. I think we can do much better. Yes please on Kova, but highly unlikely we sign him. Extremely talented technically as has some of that drive and aggression we need in our midfield. If the price is right and he can replace one of Ox or Naby I’d be all for it. But again probably not even an option
Chelsea are the one side who dont seem to GAF about who they sell their unwanted players to
We need (at least) two new midfielders younger than 25 / yet to reach their peak and not someone who is closer to be past his peak.
Kovacic soon to be 29 which is not really old but we have to build a squad for the long term and not for the next two seasons.
If there is a chance to sign a third midfielder (which I highly doubt) then I wouldn’t mind someone like Kante or Endo.
Kante is 3 years older than Kovacic and has been out for a long time now, who knows what’s the physical state of him. We have enough of those who are the “wrong” side of 30. Kovacic would be like a direct Keita replacement, someone in his prime now (which I’d argue Keita isn’t, not everyone hits their peak at the same time) and who could allow Thiago better minute management. That player seems like it might be Matheus Nunes next summer. But of course, getting Bellingham will be harder than getting Nunes, so we’ll see who is the alternative to Bellingham.
Is there any mention of a fee involved in the Mount rumours? Genuine question, I don’t know where his contract is up to and I am too lazy to look it up.
I think he is talented, and if he was available on a free and we were losing Ox on a free and are looking to spend big at the same time on another midfielder then sure.
But if you’re talking above the £30m range then he wouldn’t be someone I’d be looking at.
Mount’s contract is up to 2024.
Positionally it doesn’t make sense, he mostly plays between the lines as the single #10 or one of the two #10’s. His evolution to be a CM and they type of CM Liverpool needs this summer isn’t there. Who knows if it will ever happen. We have enough of those young(er) ones if we want.
The worry with Kovacic is how much longer can he keep to the high level he has been playing at.We have seen our own midfield pretty much collapse and i think he may go the same way within a couple of years as he has already put in a huge amount of legwork at chelsea.Would have loved to have gone after him when Gini left,he would have been the perfect replacement.
I generally think we should be going for younger players maybe ones that are not totally polished though if we somehow got Jude Bellingham that’s not an issue with him.
Really depends what Klopp thinks about Bajectic on how many we sign, I can actually see Bajectic, Hendo and Thiago being the only ones still here.
I assume with the talk of rebuild that the investment will be in place, though I don’t expect FSG to be anything less than majority shareholders still.
Yep he’s 29 in May, he might show up and batter us but he’s got a poor injury record. We need to avoid any player who has a history if injuries - Thiago is showing us that despite how good they are you can’t build a team around them.
He’s played 40+ games a season at Chelsea despite often having other midfielders (incorrectly) preferred by the manager there. He is not the guy we should build around, but is definitely a smart option we should keep an eye in the event we decide there are lots of outgoings that need to be accounted for.
Ya with players like Mount or Kovacic, it’s not about our next sure starter but good and reliable options for the squad who can be available. We will still need of course to build our next generation of “Hendo-Gini-Fabinho”
