The Unreliable Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 2)

I’ll go for that

Trent in midfield makes so much sense.

The rumor is that Liverpool will target Mason Mount as a replacement for buying Jude Bellingham.

Cheap-SG’s story will be - hey we couldn’t get Jude, but here’s Mason Mount!!!

I assume they want a riot?

They play in CM and they are English, I’m not sure there is much more in the way of comparsion.

He plays as a wing back so he is a sort of hybrid midfielder anyway. It’s just that we only play with 2 dedicated centre backs so it is usually marked as 4-3-3 rather than 2-5-3.

If we can sort out the midfield it gives him the freedom to operate down the whole of the wing.

Welcome to the forum, by the way!

It’s a stupid rumour, yet you’re happy to lap it up because it furthers your agenda.

Its a great agenda. How can we have owners who believe in making sure that the club only spends money it can earn? We need to have owners who believe in either dumping their own money at all costs to allow us to buy buy buy or owners who will allow us to buy buy buy and dumping half a billion of dollars of debts on the club.

Ornstein saying Markus Krosche is a candidate for sporting director. Currently at Frankfurt previously at Leipzig.

Had never heard of him till this afternoon.

Apparently signed all these fellas according to twitter…

:fr: Christopher Nkunku
:croatia: Josko Gvardiol
:hungary: Dominik Szoboszlai
:es: Dani Olmo
:denmark: Jesper Lindstrom
:fr: Randal Kolo-Muani
:de: Mario Gotze
:us: Paxten Aarsonson

An interesting link if nothing else.

Isn’t this the guy we got linked to recently?

Mario Gotze at 30 years of age, what a find.

Yes.

Actually, Leeds were first to appear out of nowhere when Gvardiol barely had a few games for Dinamo’s first team.

Josko’s agent has connections with some of the Leeds owners. But then the player and his entourage concluded that it’s better for him to go to Leipzig.

Maybe Michael Edwards after his sabbatical might return to LFC…
He will be feeling fully recharged and invigorated, and he knows in advance the fans love him… Crazier things have happened in the footballing world eh

Former Liverpool target Mo Dahoud will be a free agent in the summer Borussia Dortmund confirmed.

Bellingham, Mount and Gvardiol would make for an excellent summer window.

Not in love with Mount but he is serviceable and I’ve seen glimmers of real quality which I think Klopp could bring out on a far more frequent basis rather than the 43 different Chelsea managers he’s played under.

Fwd’s - Mo, Dias, Nunez, Jota, Gakpo & Bobby

Mids - Jude, Hendo, Thiago, Mount, Bacjetic, Morton, Harvey, Fab

Defs - Virg, Konate, Gvardiol, Matip, TAA, Robbo, Tsimikas, Ramsey

GK - Ali & Kelleher

That is a bloody decent squad

I would be happy with those three signings.

I think I would prefer a different type to Mount though, say Kone, who could be either a 6 or 8.

And if money is tighter, assuming we managed to sign Bellingham, Evan Ndicka could be a useful central defender on a Bosman to replace Matip, although Gvardiol is a very good player and I’d be happy with him. Not sure how much he would cost though?

A lot. He could quite possibly be the next most expensive CB. It’s all going in that direction so far. I don’t see us bringing him.

Aye, the market has this weird way of interest in a type of player coalescing around a single player in a way that tends to drive their price up beyond the value they provide above the next most fancied player. He feels like he has now been elevated to this position.

I see us going heavy on midfield and then going for possibly a much cheaper CB option, if we do (could depend if there’s even interest for Matip or Gomez). Gvardiol, even if you’d put the money together (no chance we could do both him and Bellingham + another midfielder), you could have another Tchouameni situation. Also, we’d have to move Virgil to RCB. Which is not theoretically impossible, but I just don’t see it happening.

On Mount, I’ve always really liked him as a player. He has the habit of being an absolute pain in the arse when we play Chelsea and certainly would add goals from midfield.

A few issues…

He is more lightweight and less industrious than I think we need. If we’ve been short of workhorses in midfield, he certainly isn’t that.

I understand he is looking to leave Chelsea because the new signings have pushed him down the pecking order and he wants to be first choice. Frankly, I don’t think he can expect to rock up here and walk into our first team. We’re better than Chelsea, and while they are also crackers, there is a reason he has slipped down their pecking order.

If rumours of him wanting £250kpw are true, then run a mile. I think that would make him second or third highest earner at the club?

I think the emergence of Bajcetic puts us in a really good position, in that if we can get a Bellingham type belter, then we can afford to take a chance on another midfielder who is a bit more of a gamble, buying the next Caicedo, Enzo or Guimares direct from source rather than being charge £80m by a Spanish or Portuguese club.

I just don’t see where Mount fits in, especially not at 250/week. We need a more athletic destroyer type imho.
