The Unreliable Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 2)

I’ve heard the name Florentino Luis in a couple of articles over the past few days, a midfielder from Benfica. I’ve done the usual YouTube scouting, but other than that, no idea about the player. Anyone on the boards know about this guy, and whether or not he would be a good player to bring in?

Reddy with some slightly more inspiring names than the ones released earlier.

Caveat of “do love a surprise, stealth signing” just in case it proves to be none of the ten or so names mentioned so far.

Basically…

They are after a DM, here are some names of them.

Probably won’t be any of them.

I actually think Florentino Luis would be a brilliant signing for us, and pretty sure I read he was available for around £30m so much less than some of those names.

At that price we could likely bring in Lavia as well, with an eye on developing him rather than throwing him straight in as our only #6

Indykalia will be dropping all those names next week alongside DaveOCKP

They were always together socialising and went on holiday together (Firmino and Fabinho families) I am sure they will still keep in touch

That’s who I put in as a number 6 replacement for Fabinho in the who would you buy thread

Bringing in Taf and making him permanent I think was key. Evidently Alisson has taken a step up since he arrived.

So I’ve been reading up a bit on this guy this evening and he honestly sounds like a great prospect. The kind of player Brighton would sign and sell for £80m two years later.

I was thinking the exact same thing, ha!

Really want us to nail this south american market, so much talent there very few in Europe will have heard about that can be nurtured into top players…can be snapped up for relatively modest fees.

Never seen him play but we should be bringing him home.

Yeah. European clubs don’t scout South America at all.

Then factor in the fans, media, managers, other staff and football journo’s and you’re left with very few are you not?

All those names thrown up by Reddy and Co are just constant bullshit names. I love the way they make out Liverpool are showing interest without one shred of evidence. They just make up the names to match a position. None of the so called journalists have any idea in the FSG era.

Caicedo will cost at least 80m. Chelsea has him all but wrapped up. We’d have to hijack the deal.

I just peeped his stats and I like the cut of his jib! He’s also a solid 6’ 174 lb athlete. Just 23 years old too so there’s room for improvement while being of an age to help right away. Luis could really help bolster that #6 position as a defensive focused midfielder.

Here’s a nice video breakdown of Luis.

From those stats the progressive carries concerns me. Without having seen that man play (or least I’ve never focused on him) I immediately am thinking he’s static and slow - which is not how our midfield looks to be evolving.

Not sure it is a trait the club might look for in a CDM given progressive carries as per Fbref are defined as:

Carries that move the ball towards the opponent’s goal line at least 10 yards from its furthest point in the last six passes, or any carry into the penalty area. Excludes carries which end in the defending 50% of the pitch

Here’s some additional Florentino Prop from Andrew Beasley. Small sample but he looks pretty impressive

Will be a surprised if Edson Alverez from Ajax is under consideration. Lots of UCL experience, decent age, numbers + eye test suggest similarities to Fabinho at Monaco. Chelsea offered 65M Euro last summer but available for around 40m this year apparently.
