The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 5)

There’s nothing wrong with being 4th choice behind the best front 3 in world football. Especially for clubs with bottomless pits of money that stockpile talent. If the players we were after couldn’t get a game at clubs like Everton for example then we’d be in strife.

I see that he’s a currently injured defender. Perfect! He’d fit right in.

Is there some other reason for not buying him? He is Spanish so he must be good. Must he not?

With all the rumours about Mbaye. I see we already signed a winger called Nbaye who will arrive in 2027. Apparently a huge prospect.

Not a single person on here would have advocated spending that on him before the world cup.

Couple half decent performances and one big showy tackle and suddenly we’re idiots to not spend £35m on him.

You can smell the desperation creeping in.

I didn’t pay any attention to the world cup and I’m not English so how he did for England means nothing to me but I’d have seen some up side to him before the world cup for a cheap enough price. The combination of being able to play both right and left back while being homegrown. Makes him seems like good backup on both sides and we are likely to let Kostas go on a free at the end of the season, so we do need someone on the left soon.

I can see drawbacks though. I prefer when we sign someone who can either compete right away to be first choice or who is young and promising enough to grow into fighting for it and by the end of this season, when Kostas goes, we will have a better idea if we need someone that can fight with Kerkez for being first choice right away or not.

not weighing in on the debate, but, that was some tackle though…

He did impress with England. By all accounts, he hasn’t had a brilliant season, but it’s hard to judge a player in a struggling team.

I’d be happy with him, he seems to be a Swiss Army Knife type of player which is always useful to have.

Djed Spence running down the wing just doesn’t have the same ring to it. It’s a no from me Tom.

Djed Spence? Are you off your fucking rockers?

People complain about Frimpong not being good enough and then some clown suggests spending actual money on Djed fucking Spence. Has everyone comletely lost their fucking minds?

Sometimes the club just can’t win with fans - there are concerns voiced about potential signing Mbaye because his parents are too involved in his career and yet when another potential target with parents so uninvolved they couldn’t even be bothered giving him a properly spelled first name you lot still moan

I just wanted to leave this here; I don’t know if Bayern even knew they wanted Barcola, but it makes for a great headline nonetheless.

It kind of shows where we’re at currently that Liverpool can be linked with players in every single position and for it to be plausible. Not long ago we could dismiss half of the clickbait stuff simply on the grounds that we were clearly well covered in that particular area. Not anymore.

Grimsby Town set to lose out on Barcola too.

I’m hearing that’s only because they’ve got their hearts set on landing Vini for free next summer.

Not sure he´d like playing backup to Charles Vernam

I would have been more elated if it had been Arse pulling out of buying Barcola.

We need some help at full back. If Djed Spence is the one we have identified, and Iraola sees a spot for him, bring it on. I like that he can cover left back too.

They hated him for he spoke the truth :joy::joy::joy:

Would suggest to me either Tsimikas going or they’ve given up on one of Bradley/Frimpong even being fit enough to be an option
