The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 5)

I think we are at the beggars cant be choosers stage, and signing Spence on the cheap to add a home grown position and cover both full back positions is acceptable at this point.

Could the summer have been done better? Obviously. At this stage though, it would at least add some depth that we are really lacking.

Assuming he is available at the price reported.

Wasn’t that because Udogie kept on picking up niggly injuries? And then they’ve gone and signed Robertson to offer some more cover that side anyway.

He was an alright fullback in a crap team the past two seasons and seems to have been used rather reluctantly by all but one of the many Spurs managers he’s had. Even De Zerbi is saying publicly that he’d like him to stay but if he wants to go then he should. Hardly a resounding endorsement.

I’d get it if we were talking under Ā£20m but they apparently want Ā£35m. People are saying that’s ā€œon the cheapā€ when it’s just Ā£5m less than we paid for each of the two starters we brought in at full back last summer.

So Spurs pick up Robertson for free and we pay ~35m for a player that didn’t look good enough for them (let alone us) last season? I know Robbo is aging, and it made sense that he moves on, but Spurs would probably be very happy to have upgraded their FB plus gained cash for other moves.

Edit: Rab gets in before me, as usual

Well yes but same of any prospects really.

Have to say, that Liverpool FC is struggling to bring in a starting winger, starting CB and a full back cover is quite poor.

Whats the obsession with Bradley he isn’t great got rinsed a lot last year. Picks up bookings like injuries and picks up more than most of those.

The player recruitment side just doesn’t seem so well run anymore..

How do you know they are struggling with those.

Why is that?

I just saw that he started 22 games for a dogshit team. Obviously if we sign him I’ll be right behind him and praising him as the next Roberto Carlos

As a NI fan I’ve been following him since he was 16. He’s top class and I know he will convince the remaining LFC fan doubters in time

I don’t think they are looking for a starting CB, probably for one to cover. Reasons for delay at signing a winger is quite obvious - few top end options available in a sellers market.

Bradley is to you what Darren the Speedboat Huckerby was to Zinny

No idea what that means. Conor will captain Liverpool some day :star_struck:

I think it probably is. The problem is not the recruitment team so much, but that the market has changed.

Think I’d rather see Szobo at RB than sign someone with Spursy DNA.

Then again Tuchel clearly saw something in him and I thought he did well for him. You can’t base everything on a player in a poor team. We signed Robbo from a side that had just been relegated.

True but…

Tuchel also sees nothing in Trent to the point he’d rather Trevor Chalobah fill in there than pick Trent.

And we signed Robbo for Ā£8m which even in 2017 was a throw away kind of fee for us. Very different from Ā£35m even in today’s market.
