The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 5)

After Araujo loan deal I don’t think James Hill makes sense at the moment.

OTOH, we should buy Spence and move on Ramsay and/or Tsimikas. Spence is an upgrade to both of them right now. His WC performances are also better than anything produced by Frimpong at RB position for us. As for Bradley, he will need at least a month after full recovery to get back to form. So, Spence will easily start plenty of games for us.

Robertson joined Spurs to be their LB and somehow you want their third choice

A couple of national team games isn’t going to change that.

Konaté :grimacing:.

You don’t want just one they’ll stand out like a sore thumb. Just look at the tickles Konaté got called up for.

Bookmark this as it’s now a certainty to bite us in the arse :grimacing:

Robertson is a dedicated LB who won’t be starting many games for Spurs over the course of a season. He’s 78 years old.

Spence is primarily a RB who can cover LB.

If they were both at Liverpool and everyone was fit, Spence would make the bench ahead of Robertson.

I think Robbo will start most games for Spurs. Why would he have left us to sit on their bench?

The club must be very brave to believe that Bradley will be able to jump straight back into the starting 11 right after a horrible injury, and that Frimpong is good enough to be a regular RB starter in a back four system over at least half a season.

Araujo will get games at RB for sure. Not certain where he’ll figure in the depth chart once everyone is fit and available, but it takes some of the pressure away from needing Bradley to come back asap and for Frimpong to perform.

Right now we will need him at CB exclusively in the first 15-20 matches. I am certain that Bradley will need at least a month to gear up after full recovery given how nasty his injury is.

As for Frimpong, well, frankly I don’t rate Frimpong and believe that he should play further up or be replaced.

He left us because his contract ran out and we didn’t offer him a new one.

Mascherano was a bit like that but did OK for us.

Magnificent player .

Definitely can give them that desire to win and compete. MAsch had one of the best competitor mentalities ever. Small and not quick but he wanted that ball more than anyone else.

Been away for 15 days without internet and thought I’d see a thousand new posts and some movement in the market. Disappointing. Seems like whatever the plan was hasn’t materialized unless they are waiting for Iraola’s assessment of need, which is massively delayed by the WC. All well, perhaps the signings from last season will seem new this year.

Since he’s been associated with us…why do I always read Diamonde…as Dionamead…anyway he’s gone so why worry

Yes, I think James Hill is one for the future.

Araujo feels like a stop gap solution for this season which is fine because he fills a need and has the required versatility. I am doubtful we will spend nearly 50m pounds on the purchase option unless he plays really lights out football.

Also played the full 90.

Well, if you wait for another season, we will already have Quansah, who will be available at a cheaper price thanks to our buyback clause.
