I guess even if we aren´t, will he play? We do have quite a few midfielders now with Nyoni and even Bajcetic. Would you trust him to start a PL game, for example?
Hopefully he doesn’t have to play - which is kind of the point, it’s good to have a backup player for DM/CB but I would rather that be a youngster with potential to improve or an experienced player who has shown they can play at the required level.
Endo seems like a good person, no trouble and a hard worker but I wouldn’t want to see him start a game and even coming on to shore things up as others tire he doesn’t fill me with confidence.

I get what you are saying but Is it good to have players we don´t want to play at all?
Of course, you want your backup players not starting in general as it means your first choices are injured, but there are some backups you wouldn´t be worried about when starting like Kelleher or Jones, but Endo I think would be a concern.
I think Gakpo has something to offer as an all round squad player. Way more than Jones.
I would keep him unless you can get someone like Rayan for the same money you sell for.

Can’t agree. The shouts about Endo aren’t suggesting he could be a starter or anything. It’s emergency fifth choice CB, see out the last five or play with the kids in the league cup.
Meanwhile Frimpong has been largely written off, CBs all have critical flaws and no one in the midfield seems good enough for some.
Gakpo is an interesting one. Half this place would drive him to Spurs if we got a semi-decent offer. But the belief he can be a valued part of the squad comes from his contributions both for us previously and the Netherlands this summer. No one has changed their mind on him based on the Como goal.
The squad is better than what they showed last year. That’s why they sacked the manager. But when you look at some of the stuff on here you wonder how we aren’t going into the season worrying about relegation rather than planning for a CL campaign.

Well, Endo has shown in the last 3 years or so he´s not good enough quite frankly, as great a guy as he is.
On Gakpo, last season, fans generally though was awful. Kakpo, Gakpoo I saw a lot of fans say everywhere. I´m not seeing that many people saying he must leave.
I think if you asked fans at the end of last season and then ask them now (as in the thread), I think fans would be much more positive now with largely the same players. I´ve seen it time and time again with fans. We´ll start thinking that the players that have shown they arent up to it, will now be up to it.
I´d argue their judgement on the squad and things is in question based on them hiring that manager in the first place.
For me the squad is a bit better than last season but it´s not that good. A bit better with the CB additions and Nyoni in. Wirtz and Isak a bit more settled and fit.

Endo has shown he can do a specific job but also he’s probably one of those most would agree could and probably should move on without panicking about needing a world-class replacement. If he stays, there’s a niche role, if he goes then fine.
The noise on here has very much been in favour of Gakpo leaving if a replacement is sourced. The vitriol of last season may have calmed down but most seem to prefer a shiny new toy if we can get one.
The general mood shift is natural once one season ends and another is about to start. Add in a new manager and it feels quite exciting. But look at what’s said about individual players or even specific units and the noise around quality and depth gets louder as the end of the window approaches. Maybe it’s the lack of arrivals since Munoz or the disjointed sides we’ve put our in pre-season due to the staggered returns that gets people nervous.
But Nyoni aside there’s very little positivity around the players we had before the summer but when there is it’s with the caveat of it only being preseason or harking back to last year when everyone was shite.
Oh well. Liked him as a player, the anecdotes about him being a dick in person make me less fussed about him leaving lol

Rather we got players in before flogging anymore but the price seems about what we were asking so.
Hopefully Barcola moves to almost done by the end of the week.
I did say Trey if we trust him can fill this gap but I do think Wharton deal would allow a Maca transfer request if that’s indeed what his idea is.

I would be less stressed but in January we need to add a few bodies. I am also hoping that by then our crocks are miraculously ok to play.

Sadly agree. But I have also been a bigger supporter of his on here than most and think this leaves a bigger hole in the squad than others probably will. I have a lot of faith in Nyoni, but the issue there is not whether he is capable of coming in and playing against Newcastle, but if whether there is enough in the squad if his emergence is seen as the replacement for Jones. That worries me
