We need a midfielder then. Nyoni might be great but replacing a senior pro with a youngster doesnt cut it for me. Same with having Rio or Mbaye replace Gakpo.

A senior pro whose best footie was at least 2 years back, we arenāt really needing to replace him in any meaningful way. End of the day we want youth guys coming through and this is the best way of doing it. He had become a squad player and his niggles meant he wasnāt reliable.
You donāt replace certain guys in that way but as a squad player you can. As I said we probably should seek out a new CM like say Wharton because other aspects in that position have doubts, if we didnāt Iād be fine.
Heās played Right back, Defensive midfield, attacking midfield and left wing in the last 3 years. And Iām not sure heās been great in any.
Iāll be a club of one on this butā¦

Jones is worth more than Ā£35 million in todayās market, weāve let him go cheap. At the same time weakened the squad even more. Thereās no sign of anyone coming in at the moment.

He has 1 year remaining on his contract. For a part time player, not sure we could get much more.

Wishing Curtis well for the future, exciting move for him and his family. Should be well suited to the league that made McTominay look like prime Pirlo and Kaka rolled into one.
Whilst the fee is low at least he didnāt leave on a free so that is an improvement, youāre never getting good money from an Italian side.

Has he though? He played fewer than 180 minutes in the League last season, for various reasons. And the games he played for more than a few minutes, didnĀ“t all go that well. Nobody said anything about world class but the point is that he has shown heĀ“s not really of the standard required anymore. HeĀ“s just an extra body.
Given GakpoĀ“s performances last season I am not surprised really. IĀ“d expect a lot more people clamouring for him to be replaced. IĀ“ve seen quite a few people expecting big things of him this season. HeĀ“ll probably score 10 to 15 goals as usual and on the face of it, will look alright.
I agree itĀ“s a natural phenomenon for fans to get more positive as the season nears. IĀ“m not saying fans are being silly or itĀ“s bad. But it is like that. I think people have mostly accepted the situation now. Happy with a loan CB, a young winger and maybe Barcola. Considering what we needed, that is very short.
Not sure on that either. I mean, they stunk the place out last season but lots of people expecting Mac and Grav to play a big part based on them being in the title winning side a few years back. I think relative to the shite we were served up by Slot and the players (very important that they also were responsible), I think sentiment has been very positive. I mean, our long time reliable players Van Dijk and Ali for example are barely being scrutinsed but massive question marks there based on last season and age.

I donĀ“t really like this Jones sale unless a good midfielder comes in but last year of contract, i know. Which actually this may indicate is happening.
HeĀ“s a solid player (not great but solid) and he can cover a few midfield roles and also RB. And heĀ“s homegrown.
Surely we are signing a midfielder then or at least another player as well as Barcola.

We could kill two birds with one stone by swapping Jones with Luis Enrique who is as good if not better than Rayan and is Brasilian like him.

Not bothered about Mbaye to be honest. I donĀ“t think he would add much in the short term.
Barcola however is one of the best attackers we can sign. Having top attackers can make up for an awful lot behind, so I think it would make me cautiously optimistic of top 3 this year. If the club pulls it off, I think it would be a big move for us.
But I still have quite a few issues with the team/squad. IĀ“ve droned on before about the midfield (sorry everyone!) being a bunch of runners and no playmaker or proper holding player, but also, Van Dijk being relied on still in the back four, questions over our full backs, even GK and whichever wing Barcola isnĀ“t on.
Lots of questions but I still would think top3 would be doable given the competition, with Barcola in.

Good move for Curtis Jones, and good luck to him. If he was unsettled because he saw himself as more of a main man, and we wouldnāt give that to him, then Inter are a top side who should be competing for Serie A and giving it a good go in the CL. The pace in Italy will suit Jones too, with the accusation that he hangs on to it a bit too long not being as much of a factor in slower paced Italy. If McTominay went there and did well for himself, Jones, a superior player, should do likewise.
The fee is cheap for a player of his quality, but what are you going to do? If heās not signing a deal, and he has eyes for Inter, then weāve done about as well as we could, unless we wanted to hang on to a disgruntled player for an extra year until he goes on a free.
It gives an opportunity for Nyoni, and Iām fine with that. If we lose another midfielder then a key midfield signing is urgent. Right now it is less urgent, but if we pulled one out of the bag Iād be more than fine with that!

Heās a quality player but he fell out with De Zerbi almost immediately. Given that particular managerās history of picking fights and falling out with players Iām not sure Iād hold it against a 19 year old.
Heād be a really good signing for us down the line but I doubt it happens, at least not yet, but heās someone Liverpool have been interested in for at least 4 years.
Edit: My fault, it was Habib Beye he fell out with not De Zerbi.

Ah I knew Tyler Morton would get a mention. He was a less promising prospect than Trey is now.
Klopp nor Slot were using him before other players such as Bobby Clark for example. Credit to him, he has been good at Lyon but unlike Jones here no one was complaining when we sold him. Some players just need different environments, we may see this to our benefit with the loan signing we did.
No one can seemingly come here and change their ways even though we have several examples however players can leave and become world beaters and we should have spotted that.

As for Endo, Iāll give my opinion. Heās a bit part player. Experienced. Tenacious in the tackle. But not at the level to be a starter. He can be a break glass in case of emergency extra defender, but he is a midfielder who, as noted above, is suited to helping the kids in the league cup, or helping us to close out a few games here and there that are already won.
If we had an offer Iām sure if it was just up to us we would sell. But the player has agency over his life and career, and he recently said he planned to stay and see out his deal. He is entitled to do that, so thereās not a lot of point in arguing about him! Good luck to Endo. His character and commitment endear him to all good reds, and at the same time of course we can see his status in the squad.

I knew this saga would happen all along as both PSG and His manager are not happy with him wanting to leave the club and hence are also punishing our club by using some dirty tactics to put us off. I just hope that at the end of it the outcome will be the same as the Isak saga and we can move on and never deal with them again.
Ridiculously low price in todayās market. Itās not even much more than we got for Ben Doak.

Italy will suit Curtis. Slower and he will feel like a bigger fish and can stay lazy and not improve.
