The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 5)

Im not sure he is. I think the surprisingly low fee relative to other CMs likely reflects a bit of a down season last year - maybe more questions marks about whether he can do it at the next level or maybe a good opportunity for someone who is confident he is the guy. But for us the big issue is registration spots. We cannot bring in Baleba as a replacement for Jones without also getting rid of Endo (or other nonHG senior player no expected to play a big role)

Ugh apologies

You know that’s a parody account, right? I find it so silly to post that here—seriously. Sigh

These aren’t even unreliable though, this one’s got “Parody” in his blurb, also I thought parody’s were supposed to be amusing? Indykalia is more amusing than that.

Unreliable is the French Paul Joyce or some bloke from Czechia.

I’ve always appreciated Curtis’s swashbuckling style. You need a combination of industriousness and a touch of audacity in your midfielders. People who are arrogant enough to make the daring run, pass, or shot. People who are unafraid to be pressed and dribble out of it.

But I also think it’s notable that he never impacted games as much as his technical ability suggested he could, which suggests that his style was more geared towards serving his self-image versus serving the whole team.

My take goes beyond the Jones departure.
I quite understand his decision from a personal growth standpoint.

While I fully understand/subscribe to our sustainability model. I can’t shake the sense that our football directors, do not leave enough room for the managers. And this goes all the way back toKlop, except for the 2yrs period or so between winning the league.

In both numbers and especially quality, we do not give our managers enough wiggle room in the squad construction. And when it goes south as a result of injuries, these guys do not take responsibility…

We have a top midfield trio; one of the best in Europe. Proven over the last 2-3 years. Yes we underperformed last season, but the quality is undeniable for anyone who watches football seriously and not simply googling stuff…

But behind them, we do not have enough numbers and quality. And I find this very frustrating…

So, Adam Wharton?

I do agree to an extent. I like that kinda cocky style

Though I would also say that football is played with the brain and it´s all about decision making and how you read the game rather than just touch and skill.

Surely absolutely no chance of that. We have had all summer to go for him and they won´t want to be selling as the season starts.

But I think we might bring in a midfielder now perhaps. I suppose you could use my own logic and say that no team would want to be selling right now…

I wouldn’t be surprised if we stand pat, with the midfielders we have. The Nyoni situation reminds me of the Rio situation last year, where we let Diaz go, without signing another senior winger, to “not block” Rio’s progress. I don’t agree with that action, but FSG don’t appear to mind.

I had to google “kiboshed” tbh… We’ll see if it actually turns out that way.

Why don’t we leave it until the last day of the window, to make Palace an offer for Wharton? That’s never been done before has it?
