The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 5)

Romano O :joy:

Just saw that, deleted

Just accuse him of everything, something is bound to stick.

Fair to say if they pull this off Gakpo is going nowhere.

We may as well not buy Barcola or Mbaye. Don’t want to block Koumas, Abe or Danns.

I wonder if Barca - who reportedly ended their pursuit of Julian Alvarez - would consider Gakpo as an alternative.

Might be a decent shout that.

If we end up with Barcola, Munoz, Gakpo and Ngumoha that’s a decent quartet of wingers, though with three of them favoring the left the balance might be off.

Gakpo is a good player, and he can also cover through the middle, so I’m not showing him the door. But if a suitable offer arrived that helped us get a better balance, I would do it.

Never easy to know if these reports are real or not but I said during pre-season that you could see what coaches like in him from the open training they had. In training he played very direct, either passing or running straight to goal, kind of ignoring all the tiki-taka crap that we got indoctrinated with last season. Maybe going out on loan helped him to not fall into that trap, even if the loan itself wasn’t great.

Issue I see so far is that when playing for the first team I still feel like he is a bit too reserved and passive. That version of him that was taking control and cutting through the game in practice is one I haven’t seen emerge in senior football yet.

No body has gone for him all summer.

Indeed not that we know of.

Whether that means anything? I mean, City spent stupid money on Anderson.

spurs taking getting almost relegated very personally.

Regarding the tiki taka, do you think a lot of our players looked poor in the passing department last year as they were 2nd guessing what do as the coach was too conservative so they weren’t committing to the pass?

We did not have anything like tiki taka last season. Tiki taka has lots of passes between your midfielders and an emphasis on moving the ball quickly with short passes. We almost never saw our midfielders exchange passes between themselves and work it forward.

It´s not passing sideways and backwards to the full backs and centre backs just to keep the ball. We had the worst of all worlds. Turgid slow possession football. I don´t even know what style you would call it. Pure garbage.

How much money do the Spurs have for transfers. Seems like they’re buying up half the league.

… while yet somehow still seeming a bit shit.

Yes, absolutely. They’re the future, unlike a 35yr old who’s several years past his best, on massive money, not a great leader, doesn’t take responsibility, and no longer puts himself in prime positions defensively.

Spurs buying marmoush and savinho..
Arsenal getting syringer with konsa.

We are so far behind its unreal. Month later we still cant get barcola over the line

I thought you didnt approve of aggregators @Livvy?

Probably helps that City want rid of them.

I know they’re a bunch of pricks, but that’s taking it a bit too literally.
