The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 5)

I’ve been thinking that while we want a good squad for competing all competitions throughout the season… how does our training aspect amongst the players/squad factor into the equation, and does it have a bearing on players we keep…

I would have thought the training has to remain competitive amongst the players at Kirkby, but if we are pitting our first team against academy players because that is all we have left, are the first team players losing a cutting edge… I mean, Endo for example, surely has a value in marking/tackling our forwards each day, to keep them in readiness for the matchday games…

Another one to chalk off the list for this summer
Better hope Mac Allister finds the legs he lost last season

Wasn’t that what we were all complaining about Grav last season?

Ran too much?

Problem solved, plonk Stiller in front the defence.

Hope he is a success, he looked good in pre season.

Hope he gets the requisite minutes there. May need him come January.

So…are we just selling and loaning out players and only plugging gaps that threaten to become gaping chasms?

Or are we gonna make any progressive signings?

Well we can’t play that guy due to permit issues. If we sell Gakpo then I’ll agree with you.

I think Mac Allister will be fine this season

A new manager with new ideas will re-energise him

I don’t want to start a discussion that’s already been had but it’s starting to get really frustrating.

  • We haven’t replaced Salah
  • We haven’t even replaced Diaz
  • Even before last season started, we knew wingers were a high priority, yet here we are…preseason done and no sign of wingers. I don’t count Munoz. He’s a kid. Just like we shouldn’t expect major minutes from Rio. Otherwise we’ll erode their longevity at the top level.
  • We actually trimmed out midfield without even adding anyone who can improve it
  • Structural problems remain in midfield. I don’t think we have the right mix of skillsets
  • RB position looks ok for now but all other position players for whom RB is a secondary position.
  • I don’t know what version of Tsimi we will get because now he is getting on a bit (30).
  • I’m still not convinced we should have gotten Wirtz.

Hope you are right, agree that a new manager can make a difference to players, one reason I didn’t want Jones to leave, really hope it works for him.

he was top three in ground covered for midfielders in the world cup (he was actually 2nd behind rodri). I think the midfield will be a good surprise for most people who have already written them off as crap. folks forget this is the same group that won the PL two years ago and its not like they are past their peak
