I’m sad about Curtis, mainly because he’s a scouser who came up through our system. He’s probably not a player who would ever have been a nailed on starter, but he could have contributed as he has done up to now. I hope there’s no nastiness around his leaving.

Lynch04 mentioned earlier about Endo not having much monetary resale value which is true, but there is a value to the non home grown registration place he takes up in the squad, if we aren’t going to sign anyone either way then fair enough might as well keep him but if there was a player that could offer more and is available then it would be sensible to let one of the backup players go to bring them in.

A good point that I didn’t consider in my answer to the OP.
I think in an ideal world, irrespective of the HG rules, most people would prefer to give game time to a youngster than a limited but committed back up player. I would prefer to give Endos midfield game time to Nyoni or McConnell but then you have to weigh up the things we don’t see, like leadership, inspiration, mentoring. I am not saying Endo is exceptional in any of these areas, but more so that your point raises genuine questions about the make up of our squad come the transfer window closing.
