The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 5)

I don’t get the link though. Isn’t he a fairly orthodox striker? Is there any reason to think he’d be good on the right?

Bit of a hybrid I think, played a lot on the RW for Lyon last season.

I think he’d be more of a wide-forward than a traditional winger were he to come here. But also covering Isak at CF, which would be good.

I’ll buy it

Honestly, if by the end of the window we’ve landed Barcola and one from Minteh, Endrick or Mbaye I’ll be a happy bunny.

I’ll be fine with that. Wouldn’t mind a midfielder but I think our final few weeks focus is those two.

Yeah it does seem like Barcola plus one in, Gakpo out. Then I’m hoping there’s another one, maybe someone on loan who can cover both at 9 and 10. Maybe Endrick is that guy?

The alternative would perhaps be to keep both Koumas and Danns?

I’m fascinated with the idea that Bar ola coming would be at the expense of Cody. That’s a lot to coordinate and other than maybe just adjusting personnel to be a better match for the manager (not my opinion just one read of how to make sense of it) it doesn’t seem to address concerns we’re short

It does my head in when posters casually toss a player from the team as Gakpo is a very good player and trying to make a rival team stronger is not good even Iraola when asked the same daft question had a big sigh before answering. Let’s stick to Chiesa and the usual academy suspects.

Yeah that’s the way I’ve thought about but yesterday Ornstein said his understanding was that if Barcola comes Cody will, leave

Wish we could sign an healthy Minteh, keep Cody and say fuck off to PSG

Also what the Dutch journalists reported when it started to emerge. We may like it or not, but it seems to be the reality of the situation.

I think it’s already suggested he is keeping Koumas around, pretty sure Pearce or Joyce said it.

I think it was mentioned with Nyoni.

But the longer it goes on the transfer saga the less likely it will happen but even if Barcola comes Iraola said he spoke to Gakpo and he would like to move him to no9 position if his favoured left wing is occupied not Koumas nor Dan’s. I would sooner believe our manager rather than Ornstein.

Last night Cody posted pictures of Curtis, Ibou and Dumfries at their new clubs. Somehow feel like that’s an indication of him leaving too.

Well I hope not even though I know he was pissed off by the sacking of Slot and of losing a few of his teammates from last season.

That’s the way I would like the silly situation of PSG slapping us with a large fish, to stop.

Slot had to go… I assume once a Barcola deal is done Gakpo will go. Or perhaps we are sensible and get two deals done.

I posted a story, yesterday I think, from a dutch journo that reported Spurs have already bid and Liverpool haven’t rejected it. Went on to say Gakpo felt like he was in limbo. The stories about him wanting to leave pre date the World Cup and have exclusively come out of the Netherlands.

I hope he was watching today’s game and see if he thinks he can turn their fortunes around on his own.
