They just bought him, initially for the B team. Not quite sure, but I think they had him on loan since January, also with the B team, and used their option to buy for €1.5m
Due to their lack of first team strikers and players coming back late, he got a lot of opportunities now during pre-season, apparently doing really well, and is now expected to remain with the first team squad.
So yes, it’s being said they’re doing this to avoid the risk of losing him on the cheap.

Yeah he hasn’t become the player he looked like when he first came to Madrid, he was incredible up until he got injured. So good, both for France and Real. I don’t know what happened.

Was never a huge fan but I think his role should have been like Fabinho. Sit and mop up and keep things tight.
That kind of player does need a proper baller next to him and in fairness at Madrid he doesn´t have that. Camavinga and Valverde are runners not like a Modric or Kroos.
I´d take him over Camavinga though. Maybe could do a job.
I think he’s on less than Gravenberch you know.

It is so obvious that this club needs to sign at least one midfielder.Hughes is the definition of useless.Everybody and I mean everybody in this forum would do a better job than him.

I’d take a good long hard look through the “Who would you buy” thread before saying that. There’s at least one person here who’d have Tyler Morton as the lynchpin of our midfield if he got his way.
No offence to that poster, it’s just been an amusing theme through a slow summer.

The only one I can think of who I would buy is Caicedo, good in all aspects of the midfield role.
Some people are dreaming, we aren’t buying an out and out DM, they have to be very good on the ball as well and finding someone that can do both is very hard!
But our midfield isn´t very good on the ball.
So why does a DM have to be?
