The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 5)

Also saw us linked with Matias Fernandez Pardo by a few sources this week including one random Spanish website.

He´d be an interesting one. I see him as a bit Cristiano Ronaldo esque on the left. Very quick, good dribbler and a great shot on him. He can play up front too which might be useful given our injuries. Had a really good season at Lille by all accounts, although from what I have seen I think his passing into the box could be better. Shoots a bit too much.

To be honest I thought he fits the profile more so than Muñoz.

Our midfield is as soft as a baby’s arse, we could do with a bastard like him there.

Inevitably a non starter though given his age and the reported price.

What?

Lowball is just typical Series A negotiating strategy.

I’m surprised they didn’t do the usual slimy offer of loan with option to buy that they will never exercise.

Seen him twice come on for Belgium and his decision making is pretty crap.

A no from me.

Couple of unreliable sources (Teamtalk and Football 365 alongside other aggregators) reporting on an interview with a football agent suggesting Juventus are in for Ali and Galatasaray for VVD.

Didn’t Juve already make a go for Ali and have us turn them down? I can see Ali going for a free to them next summer or somewhere else but not now from what was said and how Italian teams low ball us.

I can’t see us letting Virgil go now either. No point creating more squad turn over and if he holds up well again this season we might extend again.

I wouldn’t expect VVD goes.

I’m not sure I would care one way of the other. In some ways it’s the perfect time to have as big (or bigger) turn over - relative to last year. We have a new manager and he will have a style that he want to implement. Having people like VVD anchors you in a couple of ways I’d imagine - one the one hand he’s got a lot of experience and still very, very good but on the other hand he removes a variable (as he would be likely always be a starter) that the manager may want to tinker with.

I’m thinking of the cost of replacing too many players in one go more then the impact in squad stability and culture in changing too many players in one go. Virgil won’t get us much if we were to let him go now and he’s still able to do a good job for us. We’ve got enough to do in this transfer window without adding that cost to it. I’d prefer for us to leave it for next summer or the one after.

Jones linked with Forest today. Would certainly get a better fee from them than from Inter.

Forest is flush with cash now, with the Anderson sale. For them, Jones should cost at least 50 million, if not more.

Would be nice if Forest want Jones and he would be happy to go there but club status and lifestyle wise, Jones might hold out to go to Inter on a free. Although maybe it will help get Inter to make a better offer.
