I don’t think he was speaking about height being needed by DMs generally but in relation to the needs of our current line up where we already have several smaller players/ or weaker in the air in the side.

Simple swap him for Macca, short for short.

Saying that Macca is very good with his head in the attacking sense arriving in their box.

I am more concerned if Cody goes because he does get his head on things.

Joe Allen couldn’t have been much taller, although he wasn’t really a DM…

Then again he wasn’t much of an 8 or 10 either.

Like most things last year, he was a defensive liability last year. Because of his height he was given a lot of responsibility defending set pieces and he was way too often really meek. It was notable that on Sunday he had two really good defensive headers. That version of him would be a loss from a defensive PoV especially given the player being touted to come in

Yes, but 5 of those players are CBs of whom we’re probably only going to play two at the same time. Ekitike is injured and Gakpo is rumoured to be leaving… :face_with_peeking_eye:

I don’t think the window is going to offer up too many options at this stage. However with A having a 2 year deal, it’s almost a caretaker see how you go deal.

I think it’s going to take half of the season to gel his ideas into our play, so we probably won’t really jump until we see how it goes.

A is now stuck with ex Klopp players and Slot players. It’s a very tough place to be.
