They meant he was formerly 32

Good player. I think he will do well for them.

Kept an eye on him last night. Thought he had shades of Fabinho about him. Long and rangy limbed. Lots of neat positioning to block channels and cut things out. Certainly not an enforcer type but more smart with when he commits to getting stuck in looking to nick things and then move it quickly.

In possession he kept it quite simple. Lots of wall passes and short probing balls. Certainly not a play maker in the Alonso style where he’s spraying it around. Only foray forward I can recall resulted in him darting into the box for a return pass that never came, France then broke and within 10 seconds or so Mbappe was fouled for the penalty. Hard to say whether he made the wrong choice being that far forward but Morocco were very much caught out there.

Interesting to hear he was the youngest player to start a world cup quarter final since Pele. Given he was in there against that French forward line shows there’s immense trust in the lads ability.

Not sure he’s exactly the player we need but would be very happy to find out. Less so if it meant spending Ā£100m now but then having to wait 12 months to have him join.

Haven’t a clue how true that is but you can see some of the logic there given the connections between Zabarnyi and Andoni and our known interest in Barcola. I think I have previously seen us linked with or reportedly having interest in Zaiire Emery before too. I don’t know how often he features in their side but I would think Zabarnyi would be available.

I didn’t see many probing balls he mainly passed it sideways and backwards. However, he does look a good prospect, butfor me I need to see more progressive play from him.

On his positioning when Mbappe got the penalty, this is my issue with so called specialist position players, if he is out of position, which one of the other specialist players covers him?

By the way, the criticism isn’t aimed at you.

I also think Iraola likes multi faceted midfielders

No worries, all good.

Maybe probing was the wrong word but I can’t quite think of what the right one is. I kind of mean he keeps it quite short, tries to pick little angles or tries to find ways to bypass the nearest man to him. What he’s not is someone who’ll spray it round or split a defence with some direct incisive ball.

Of all the midfielders I could think to compare him to Fabinho was about the best match. It’s all neat and tidy, knitting things together and breaking things up without chucking himself into challenges.

In fairness to him I don’t think the penalty was really his fault. About four other players could have done something better, including the guy who actually lost the ball exactly where you can’t with Olise and Mbappe ready to spring a counter.

Do agree though, it’s a lot of money for a guy I’m not sure is the right fit for us but think he’ll be a top player at the right club.

I wasn’t blaming him on the penalty, I just hear a lot about specialist midfielders, when I like to see midfielders that are multi faceted.

As a player you have to react to situations and if Bouaddi gets forward his fellow midfielders should react and cover his position.

They had too many short term managers.

That would be great news if they could make it happen.

Rehashed rumour…

EdersonThe no6 who was about to sign for for manure has hit a snag, their excuse was something abnormal in the medical but and the real reason is that they have seen in the World Cup a more expensive and younger alternative. We were linked to him in klopps era but he is 28 and at £34M still too expensive.

It’s just a weird situation all around. I’m open to the idea that my personal rating of him is way off after seeing Klopp and Slot both not using him as much as they should have, Tuchel and Southgate ignoring him, the club not shifting on contract terms, and there not being better options than Forest to exit to, but Nar I still think it’s everyone else whos wrong about him
