The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 5)

IMO, Jones is not as good as he thinks he is

That’s about where I’m at! He is better than Forest.

My hope was he would sign a new deal and see how he fared under Iraola. The deal would include provision to move next summer, at a fair price, should he not play as much as he had hoped.

I can understand it if things were strained with the previous manager and a player wanted out. But it’s a new day, and to my mind Curtis Jones is a very good player who should see plenty of action at Liverpool.

It might come down to how the player rates himself. If he sees himself as main man material, and we won’t quite stretch to that, then a parting of the ways becomes inevitable.

For all I know if he does depart it gives us the space to add a midfielder, probably a defensive one - not in a like for like with Jones, but in a move to add better balance to the overall midfield group we have.

If he was half as good as he thinks he is, he’d be twice as good as he actually is.

That’s almost a Bilbo Baggins quote!

Reports in Brazil that we might be interested in João Gomes from Wolves - we have needed to sign a DM for a few seasons

I have no idea if he’s any good. All wolves players kind of meld into the same person to me.

I think the problem with Jones is we’ve seen how good he can be but we’ve never seen that on a regular basis.

Ultimately it would have been down to Iraola and o think a lot of decisions on 50/50 players is. Seeing Elliott already back and training probably gives Iraola more of an impetus.

Saying that never heard of that link…

They obviously rate him higher than his own supporters, I think he has been treated rather shabbily by us and the club, good luck to him and if and when they play against us and he scores…

Jota was different.

Well he won the Wolves player of the season the past 2 years so he’s the least bad member of a squad that finished bottom of the league

Nicknamed ā€˜The Pitbull’ so that probably gives an idea of his playing style.

It just means he yells Timber everytime he passes the ball

That was in Ibiza after our title win I think.

That doesn’t exactly look like a commitment. I think it’s all nonsense.

Messi would struggle to live up to Curtis Jones opinion of himself.

But he is still really good, and I don’t want him to leave. Certainly not to fucking Forest.

perhaps if he spent less time on Instagram,

and more time on improving his weakness’s

he might be closer to player he thinks he is

A very skilful player with very little end product who puts in a decent performance one out of three. Never nice to lose a local lad but if the right money was offered I wouldn’t be arsed tbh.

I don“t think Jones is good enough to be a starting midfield for us or a team looking to win titles. I rate him less than some on here.

But hes solid with the ball and arguably without, versatile, doesn“t get injured a lot and he“s a local lad. I don“t know why we would do this, especially when we lack depth. I“d honestly sell literally all of our centre midfielders before him.

Jones is our best passer right now. Change my mind.
