The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 5)

I don’t think so…

Oh, look who pops up.

That’s just in the last 6 months, there’s more but I want to turn over and watch Norway crush England…but as you can see, not one single positive or constructive thought that goes through that head of his to say about him, but yeah, sorry about my “obsession” with Gakpo guys.

He clearly has an agenda, it’s awful. We have another one of those, I’ve long since started ignoring it.

Ah the good, old ChicagoRed style of posting…

I thought Curtis was a reliable skilful players. Gave his all, played where asked not preferred. I think selling him is similar to letting Milner go when he was in his latter years. Genuine nuts and bolts player.

And we are going to have to buy a homegrown player to replace him. His departure will cut down our already thin homegrown ranks further.

Yet more links to Joao Gomes.

Manchester United and Liverpool have made contact over a move for Wolves Brazil midfielder Joao Gomes, 25, after a switch to Atletico Madrid fell through. (Globo - in Portuguese)

I would be happy with Gomes. Prem proven. Gets a lot of tackles in. The price seems reasonable too.

Yeah but that was going to Spain, add another 30m if he stays in England :face_blowing_a_kiss:

You might have a point. Especially if Man Utd want him too.

It’s highly likely that Jones will look to see off his contract and then move on a free.

Always a

Solid player. He can do some really good passes but sometimes I think he holds on to the ball abit long and likes to jostle and do a little dribble too much.

Combative player. Would be interesting.

If he does well for Iraola he might get a new contract.

Tell me a game when Jones has really bossed a game. If you can I can pretty much say the next one he failed to do it again.

Flatters to deceive. Does not tackle enough, does not score enough, never really picks us up when we need it and drives us, does not lead enough….shall I go on?

His skill is looking skilled. Oh and seeming to think he is better than he is.

Sums up Curtis perfectly. Show pony with no ambition and an exaggerated view of his own ability. Put it this way, if we were in the market for a midfielder and CJ played for another club, would he be the first name on your wanted list, or even the 10th?

He might not want a new contract as a squad player here when he could move to Milan on a big pay day next year.

I find this sort of criticism unreasonable. How many Liverpool midfielders can you name that regularly boss games? Szoboszlai once in a while?

Jones is an above average squad player, who is Liverpool through and through, can cover more than one position and do it well too.

At the end of the day, his inflated sense of himself is not an issue as long as it doesn’t affect his demeanour and performances.

Some people are just looking for something to hate on.

I would not take offense! He is not an above average squad player - he is a squad player.

Being Liverpool through and through? Jay Spearing?

That is no reason to be blind to his weaknesses.
