Hughes was photographed recently in the US with the tour group so it would appear he is still around despite lack of evidence in the transfer window for LFC but a few days ago he was mentioned as leading negotiations for a transfer to his new Saudi overlords so I guess he is Schrƶdingers Sporting Director

Annoying reallyā¦heās worth more than 35m Euro (Ā£30m).
But, going into his last year, not a kid anymore and still not really been able to nail down a first team place. From reading various articles over the last few days, it seems heās been keen on the switch to Italy.
The long argument with Dom (and others) about the armband following the Wrexham game was not a good look imo. My biggest concern is the need to not be losing players at this time.
Either Curtis needs to get his mind entirely on Liverpool (inc signing an extension), or heās moved on ASAP and we bring in another midfielder (ideally someone that is more a No.6 option.

We shouldnāt be letting anyone leave, until the squad is strengthened. Weāre short in certain positions and this should be remedied first.

We need CBs. The new lad hasnt featured, the one who looks good needs a work permit so cant play and whoever is keeping Gomez at the club needs to be shot.
Its not like Gomez has been like this 1 or 2 years, hes been like this the last 5 or 6 years maybe longer. How he is still here I have no idea. Heās broken and Im gutted for him but you could be best player in the world but if you cannot get on the pitch you might as well be the worst player in world.

Even if you just want to go by his numbers, for Lyon last season he got 8 goals and 8 assists in what 23 games playing mosly on the wing with no recognised striker, and heĀ“s only 19.

Nice try but itĀ“s more than Barcola at PSG (Ligue 1) in France and only a few less G/A than Ballon D Or winner Dembele in Ligue 1.
If we donāt take the money nowā¦fast forward 12 months and weāre all criticising the club for letting yet another player walk for nothing. There must be a reason why no (English) club are rushing or competing to sign him.
For me he isnāt a player close to being worth 200k a week, bar gaining experience heās very much the same player we saw 5-6 years ago and after seeing his antics this pre-season, Iād rather not allow that to continue into the proper season.

Inter Milan will try to capitalize on the apparent squabble we saw on the pitch with Jones. If he is not signing a new deal, we may need to cut him loose. Itās a matter to evaluate internally.
ā¬35-40M is not great, and if he was focused and harmonious with the group, it would be better to keep him for a year and then part company. But if there is a bit of needle coming in, it might be best to part ways.
I also look at the emergence of Trey Nyoni, who looks poised to make the step up to useful back up option this season.
Weāll know one way or the other on Jones soon enough. I donāt want to be an amateur body language expert, as sometimes happens with fans in football. But that was not a good look, and clearly something was amiss.
Hopefully it is resolved, and hopefully Jones signs a new deal as he is a good player. But if it is festering, I back Iraola to be decisive in order to get a unified group.
