In the run up to this summerās window much of the liverpool fan media was discussing Camara, Sangare and Wharton as what they viewed as the main options for strengthening Liverpools midfield.
Someone on Anfield Index had earlier in the year claimed that Hughes had offered to sign camara for Arne, but the latter declined (although he didnt say when that occured - so I donāt know if it was during Arneās first or second season)

In short, he feels that the players (Sarr and Camara) should have got their moves, but they are treated as commodities and the players wants/careers are put to the side in the name of business. His reference to them being African suggests that he feels players from that part of the world are not treated the same as players from other parts of the world.

Sarr going from Palace to Liverpool is right at the top level of the game.
Iām sure there are much more serious issues way down the food chain.

Fwiw I donāt think heās criticising us here, more like moaning about the huge fee Palace demanded for Sarr (also meaning he didnāt get a multi-million pound commission on the deal, which Iām sure is purely coincidental), and Monaco for pulling the plug on Camara when it looked like he was joining Chelsea.
The last one is odd, on the face of it, but I think itās more to do with them being in such financial straits they need to maximise the amount they receive for all their outgoing players, and they think they can get at least 15m euros more for Camara in January or next summer.

Feel for Sarr to not get his big move but I am very glad we didnĀ“t sign him to be honest. In fact, IĀ“d be a little concerned if we were really in for him that much.
Disappointed we didnĀ“t get Camara. From what I have seen I think heĀ“d have been very useful.
The good thing is that Hughes is now going so from January we have a chance to be much better in the market. For now, the squad is the squad so lets see what Iraola can do with it.

As well as Woodfine taking on Hughesā role with presumably immediate effect, Iām also interested to see if Bhatia starts being more hands-on with transfer dealings than FSG has been. With the summer window ending on such a bad note Iām hoping the new minority owners might seek to make a bit of a statement in January.

Re Camara, itās all just business. They didnāt want to sell, but needed to get someone sold to balance the books - thought Balogun was done and pulled the plug on the Camara deal.
Suspect some Monaco board members are rather hacked off this morning

Someone mentioned Balogun could still go to Turkey or Saudi as their windows are still open, so could be they get what they need to keep the wolf from the door for the time being.

There is no doubt African players are treated generally worse but a Premier League player who signed a 5 year contract 2 years ago isnāt the best example.

I think the fact that Sarr is 28 and the club are guaranteed a generous feels like a mitigating circumstance.

Surely we have to back our new manager in January or next summer.
Isnāt this more about both Monaco and Palace reneging on agreements to the players? - Palace had reportedly said that Fenerhbace had to pay around Ā£50m to sign Sarr, but when we appeared a week later we were either told he wasnāt available or that the price was much higher. Monaco had agreed a Ā£47m price with Chelsea before going back on it.

I only know that he was popular with QPR supporters during his time there, and itās just a hunch that the new minority owners - and probable future majority owners - might want to make a statement of intent.

Liverpool really have to devise a strategy to circumvent the PL top 6 price gouge. It makes sense for midtable clubs, who donāt need to sell, to jack the prices up dependent on the buyer. It doesnāt make sense for Liverpool to be continuously being over charged for talent though.

I think we should start gazumping whoever Brentford and Sunderland have been looking at. Theyāve bought quite well recently.
