Thiago Alcantara (CM) Bayern Munich

Ah, no, you’re fine. :+1:

I think I read a Pearce story a few months ago where he said Gotze was our first choice before he decided to go to Dortmund instead. Our second choice was Sadio.

I think that turned out quite nicely for us.

Draxler, Lemar, Pepe - 3 players we were Interested more in than Götze.

This made me laugh “Thiago Alcântara Signs For Manchester UTD On 4 Year Deal”

Just hope it is not a bad omen and really happens!

Read the article and it gets better and better. My favorite is “I’m devastated,” Thiago told Soccer on Sunday. “I waited and waited for Liverpool, but nothing happened. Eventually I said, ‘Fuck it, go on then. I’ll join stupid UTD’. My heart is broken. If God exists, why does he let things like this happen?”

Will he phone his agent and ask to go back after the first training session?

Uli Hoeneß (former) president of Bayern just said that he believes Thiago has agreed terms with Liverpool and/or ManU but none of them has contacted Bayern so far.

‘They are trying to blackmail/extort us, wait until very late in the window and than make a very low offer’ :joy:

18m bid a couple of hours before window closes.

Think Liverpool should be paying no more than 20 million if they want him this transfer window. In four months he can be got on a pre agreement and I get the feeling we would be front runners for him in January. Probably better for him and Liverpool financially if both were to wait that little bit longer.

To then not have him at all this season? Makes very little sense.

It would probably make sense financially for both though would you think?

Not for me. His personal demands (and agent’s fees) will only become more excessive, he’ll want a contract to 34 rather than 33 and we’ll have lost one of the finite peak years he has left at this level.

Agree. Now would be ideal. 3 weeks ago even better but we’re clearly not 100% in control of the situation. For whatever reason we’re waiting for something to drop into place

I see him replacing Milner in the team. Get three years where he would be in the first eleven and another year where he would have a squad role in the team. Just thinking there though, Liverpool probably wouldn’t save much in cost in willing to wait would they?

I can’t imagine the Hula bula if we drew the game against Leeds United the calls Thiago Alcantara would be deafening or blinding, president if the Spaniard signed a month ago he probably still wouldn’t of being available yesterday do to the Champions League final.
I have accepted that we’re just gonna have to wait for the lean or October 5th to close.

There is a finite amount of money… definitely!
What’s frustrating is that there is an infinite amount of money at Chelsea, City and United…
Nothing wrong with our owners, but despite FFP, it doesn’t matter how much revenues increase, or how well the team does, we’ll always trail behind those three just “because”.
Frustrating to say the least… and when somebody mention FFP, I just laugh.

This thread will be very interesting after next Sunday
Personally I was disappointed that Brewster did not make the match day squad and I would love to see us sell Gini and get Thiago in.
Reasons being Brewster pops up from no where and scores goals. Would be ideal to bring on when we need to change our approach, and Gini does not contribute enough over 90 minutes IMO.

He would imo help improve our defence and attack, at the same time, simultaneously. Our defence needs some type of help at the moment.
