Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB) Real Madrid

Yep agreed Dane. Leaving aside the focus on us winning trophies rather than wishing former players success, I don’t think it’s helpful to have players leave and do well. The Coutinho and Owen experiences may have helped keep wavering stars in the past and if Trent does go I hope we at least get some benefit like this from him leaving.

Announced this morning that he’s leaving to join Real Madrid

Well, I will repeat myself and wish him that he plays for Real Madrid like he played for Liverpool after the end of 2021/22. Nothing more, nothing less.

Oh wow, what a surprise, who saw this coming, I thought journalists didn’t have a clue about anything.

Oh,we are surprised,shocked even.
Hope he hasn’t shot himself in the foot. And I do mean that,he was good for us for a while.

At least it’s finally official, and no more talk of him maybe changing his mind after last Sunday’s celebrations.

Completely understand wanting to experience something new. Also understand that leaving on a free was probably the only way he’d ever be able to do it. No one would ever pay for him what he was worth to LFC so it’s either leave for free or stay forever.
Don’t love it, but understand it.

For all his incredible ability and all his wonderful contributions, I can’t wait to see the back of him. A strange kid who has drove me fucking mental this season.

OFFICIAL: Trent confirms he is leaving Liverpool FC

:speaking_head: “After 20 years at Liverpool Football Club, now is the time for me to confirm that I will be leaving at the end of the season.”

:speaking_head: “This is easily the hardest decision I’ve ever made in my life.”

:speaking_head: “I know many of you have wondered why or been frustrated that I haven’t spoken about this yet, but it was always my intention to keep my full focus on the team’s best interests, which was securing No.20.”

:speaking_head: “This club has been my whole life – my whole world - for 20 years. From the Academy right through until now, the support and love I have felt from everyone inside and outside of the club will stay with me forever. I will forever be in debt to you all.”

:speaking_head: “But, I have never known anything else and this decision is about experiencing a new challenge, taking myself out of my comfort zone and pushing myself both professionally and personally.”

:speaking_head: “I’ve given my all every single day I’ve been at this club, and I hope you feel like I’ve given back to you during my time here.”

:speaking_head: "From the bottom of my heart, I thank everybody – my coaches, my managers, my teammates, the staff and our incredible supporters - for the last 20 years.

:speaking_head:"I’ve been blessed enough to live out my dreams here and I will never, ever take for granted the special moments I’ve been fortunate enough to have lived through with you all. My love for this club will never die."

You only get 1 life. I honestly cannot begrudge him. Thanks for the memories, but we move on.

I think I would be a lot more worried if we didn’t have Bradley. Massive moment for him. Now the question is if we bring in anyone to provide cover and competition.

Surprised they announced it before the parade. Obviously disappointed, I would understand it more if it was Konate going back to Paris, a local lad leaving for free leaves a sour taste.

Great, unique player, wish him good luck for his private life and a bit of bad luck at Real

Can’t blame him, he wants to experience something new and live abroad different lifestyle and culture etc. I can speak from experience that I’ve loved my life moving away and don’t regret it at all.

I know his situation is a bit different, he wasn’t exactly living in a council house, and his life had changed dramatically despite his geography not moving much since childhood but I do understand the desire to not live where you grew up.

He leaves having won every trophy possible and I think Anfield will give him a good send off these next two home games.

Obviously I hope Real Madrid crash and burn so I’m sorry Trent I can’t go so far as to wish you siccess on the pitch but I do hope you enjoy the culture and lifestyle and feel fulfilled by the endless opportunities your talent has opened up for you at such a young age.
