I don’t think that Bradley is capable of playing full matches at the moment. I hope he can steer clear of injuries but he seems to have got some niggles after his last longer lay-off.
Fully agree with that. It’s time to prepare for the future, and that will be without Trent. As Nik says, not sure Bradley can play the full 90 minutes of every remaining game, but maybe it’s the chance for Slot to make other experiments.
With Slot’s principles, what he likes and the type of player Trent is, I have zero doubt he’d prefer to continue having him. No need to compare, Bradley also has potential and is different. But it is a blow to lose a player like Trent, no hiding that. We do our best to move on and think of new ways. As always.
Among the online community this may be the case, sure. I think most real people understand he’s given enough to be allowed to decide his own future now.
I’ve seen the “he could be a club legend if he stays” argument but ultimately what is that worth? He wants a different life experience, he wants to a change of workplace. Maybe he could wait 10 years and do it all then but why wait when he can do it now, before he has kids and a settled relationship etc.
I disagree that he’ll be a supersub or a squad player. He’s going to play every game. He’s one of the most technically talented players in the world. He’s not McManaman who was essentially an old-fashioned winger who stood out in a poor Liverpool team. Trent is and has been a top performer for one of the greatest Liverpool teams ever, if not for Man City’s cheating that would be more clear. He’s miles better than every other RB they have.
Why is he a rat?
Just wants to move on. If the club knew last summer or Jan they shouldve sold him or…keep him and let him help us win no 20…and we part ways with both parties getting what they want at end of season.
You make good arguments, mate, but in the long run, the above is worth a lot. But again, I’m not judging him or berating him. He has made his choice, and had no doubt good reasons to go that way. Now, he’ll live by that choice and we’ll see how it pans out for him. Good luck to him anyway.
I’m more concerned about how we replace him though. He leaves and opens up a gaping hole in the first team.
Purely from a football fan angle, it’s mouthwatering to imagine his passes with the likes of Vini and Mbappe at the receiving end, but also some others ahead of him.
I think it feels, to us as fans, like it means more than it does, to be honest. Also, if he isn’t a club legend at 26 with multiple league titles and a CL to his name then he won’t be one at 30 either.
I think the term is an emotional one applied almost randomly by fans. Some argue Luis Suarez is a club legend while simultaneously writing off Jamie Carragher from that conversation.
Ultimately I just don’t think its something that means enough, or is ‘real’ enough, to keep a player.
We definetly need a starting RB for sure. Bradley for all the talent is injury prone and Gomez same. I will be happy with Jeremie Frimpong especially when his release clause is approx. 40 million Euros.
So many players have gone to those two Spanish clubs and many have not had the best time there. Hazard Coutinho etc etc.. all players know it. Yet when the opportunity comes, they all go. There are many reasons behind it. Don’t think him failing changes anything from other players not wanting to go and play for those two.
Keep in mind that after two 60 minute appearances, the latter of which had fans getting angry because “what he needs now is 90 minutes to get match fit” he was kept back for fitness reasons for the next 2 games. He may well be fine to go, but it’s entirely possible that him playing the remaining, or even majority of the minutes would not be the best way to send him into the summer
