That’s mad. He offered to resign with no payout. Nutcase club.
No way, I didn’t realise it had gone further.
You’ve got to feel for Caleta-Car, looks like he was our no.1 target. He’s agreed terms, sat waiting for a plane… I have a sneaky suspicion we go back forr him in the summer, he’s left sided so even if Kabak does prove enough for a permenant deal there is still room.
Also our track record of our 2nd/3rd choices always seems to turn out well!
Rafa’s been linked to Marseille as well. If that happens makes it a bit more likely.
Rafa going for a job at a place the manager asked for 1 player and got another seems a receipe for disaster!
Rafa should go to Dortmund next season. He will really like it there. Possibly his best destination after Liverpool.

He’s magnetically drawn to headcase clubs
A lot of reports today saying Alaba now see’s the Premier League as his preferred destination.
My only concern with this is his motives for moving is he wants to be top earner in Germany which they have refused, I presume this is why he no longer wants Spain as the two big clubs can’t match his wage demands with them being in freefall.
I think he ends up at City or Utd.
We won’t be able to match his salary demands I think, but he would be an outstanding signing at the back alongside Virgil.
City signing all over.
Falk and Romano are repeatedly dragging Liverpool into race with Real Madrid for Alaba’s signature, I’m not sure what to make of that. There’s some old report that keeps popping up in my head that said that Alaba would like to play as a central midfielder and that was another reason why he wants to leave Bayern, aside from a big, fat pay cheque. It would be great to have a player who’s excellent at three positions, though I’m not sure if he’s either centre back or midfielder that Klopp wants/needs at this moment.

If he did want to play in midfield and in the Premier League it’d be good for us. As a replacement/upgrade on departing Wijnaldum as both defensively capable whilst also creative it would be a great move for both us and him. But we won’t pay him anywhere near the reported wages. If he accepts less it could happen. Wouldn’t be first player to accept less from us than asking from their current club and our rivals.
Hmm, he doesn’t strike me as such player for some reason. I think he’s waiting for Real Madrid to come up with cash, someone said that they are paying Hazard 400K per week, I imagine his agent thinking “I can get us some of that”. He’ll be one of those free signings that are anything but free, though I’d gladly be corrected in case Liverpool are indeed interested in him.
There are going to be a lot of disappointed players (and agents) over the next few years. Football’s finances are fucked, due to the coronavirus pandemic; many strongly suspect that the days of insane wages are over, for the time being at least.
Somehow, with all the debts and money lost due to the pandemic, I can still see Barcelona and Real Madrid making those extremely expensive signings with some “creativity” from their top brass. Call me cynical but I can’t help it. Man City and PSG are obviously off-limits in this game, I doubt they’ll be affected.
The hope for me is that if everyone else having to tighten their belts both the corrupt ffp abusers get huge scrutiny. Especially when the games darlings (real and barca) start whining.
VVD, Gomez and Davies will remain. If loan spell works out, then Kabak will also join the ranks, for a pretty good deal. Nat Phillips will fancy some regular games and will leave.
I think we will buy another CB only if Matip leaves, very unlikely, and Kabak fails to impress.

Now official so that is one option off the table.
We buy from Bayern
I would expect us more in the market for Botman or the Carr bloke from Marseille anyhow.
