They were willing to accept a move to Newcastle in the summer, they’d have had to pay £2.5m initially on loan with an obligation to then complete the purchase at £12.5m in 2022… which confuses me because the wording on that would have to be pretty water tight with his contract ending in 2022 anyway. So yeah if they’d have accepted the sale then they definitely aren’t rejecting one now you’d think. Take Karius off the squad lists to make room for him.

One for @Kopstar perhaps. I don’t think he would qualify for a work permit with out playing for Brazil a good number of times. How could be be considered home grown he was never here? We wasted time sending him on loan to clubs that wouldn’t play him enough or something.
He was owned by us so we were “developing” him by loaning him. Its if he was with us 3 seasons before he turned 21 or something I think.

On a related note, the work permit regulations need to be refined. If a club like Liverpool want you, then de facto you qualify as a player and should get a permit. International caps are too imprecise. This is Brazil. Tough to break into that team. But if Liverpool want you, you can play. Paperwork should be rushed through at that point.

Could well be. Although we did seem to truly be in for Touchemini and our best midfielders are getting up there in age so there might still be interest in someone.
