Why don’t you take your smarmy chauvinistic belittling posts and go to another thread? Most of the time i can skip over negative opinions and it doesn’t bother me much, this is an internet forum, but why don’t you stay out of this thread. It’s not really amusing or clever to throw out tired tropes about how women are inferior.
Redbj made a request to not have people popping in during the world cup and shitting all over it because women are involved. I’d like to second that request. Find something you enjoy and go to that thread.
Fair enough, came across as hugely sarcastic looking at your posts in this thread, and was more a culmination of posts (not just from you) and I’ve about had enough of the negative crap.
Again, what’s even more boring is every opinion given being turned into some sort of prejudice against someone. It’s a disgrace and it’s designed to make the majority tow the line to the minority.
Someone might have a crap opinion. That doesn’t make it an ism for crying out loud.
I’m a little jaundiced by it because the success of the US team brings out a lot of the worst aspects of the discourse about the game and America itself in this country - “see if our best athletes played we’d win the men’s game too. So we can treat that as true and judge ourselves the best in the world and in turn dismiss the most popular game in the world.”
So for me, the best thing about it has been the growth of the game in other countries, especially in europe. Fingers crossed we can get a couple of the traditional big footballing countries to put a good run together and provide a big threat to the US team
Well, England doing well, Australia will be tough at home, Germany just lost to Zambia, France, Spain, Japan, Brazil could all be good. Here’s some analysis of the teams:
Doesn’t the Women’s World Cup merit it’s own thread? The WWC does provide some compelling storylines. Japan winning in 2011 was a lot of fun. This year’s tournament would benefit from some kind of an underdog story. I also wonder why the tournament is starting so late this year? Perhaps because matches will be on early enough not to compete with the men’s league matches. Still, a June start would have been better, I think.
For men women’s football is a different game, much like women’s tennis and men’s tennis are just different, and one has to enjoy the slower pace and resulting tactics.
This thread was opened for the Women’s Euro. It managed 200 odd posts. So, I converted it to general women’s football. A thread can have 10000 posts, let’s optimise it.
