Yan Diomande (Winger) RB Leipzig

I think we’re getting fleeced in this tbh. Maybe i’m just a bit wary after how our other big money deals fared last season. Hope i’m wrong but seems very expensive.

Yes, he’s going to be expensive—very expensive. But he’s probably worth it. Besides, I think it’s fine, up to a point, to show him that we really want him. And it doesn’t hurt to come across as ambitious in the process.

We’ll have to wait and see if we actually get him. That will also depend heavily on the player himself.

i think signing munoz gave us a bit more financial flexibility. LFC knew they needed two wingers and had budget set for two. getting munoz for such a great price, helps

looks like a 14 million difference. we value him at 86 million and they value him 100 million according to Joyce times article

Just a question: would we even make a bid if we thought he was actually just using us and would rather go to PSG?

Think this is a bit like the Ekitike/Isak situation. Our club is confident that we’ll sign either one of Diomande/Barcola.

i have no idea to be honest. PSG have to sell to buy, so they can tell him to patiently wait and that they will be back for him. however, i think hughes and edwards are way too smart for that. this thing has already progressed more than is being reported. the other snippet is that we are willing to pay him more salarywise than PSG

I think it won’t happen until after the Germany match; otherwise, there would be too much of a commotion.

I think there are visible mitigations as to why we didn’t see the best from our signings last year. However, where there is a similarity is in making that bid - I don’t think we do that unless we have a genuine belief there is a deal to be done. We’ve made an opening offer with a view to following up with another, higher bid.

If we actually want the player and the number is below our valuation, why not? Better to soak up as much of what PSG has to spend in the market at zero cost - particularly because we seem to have good relations with Leipzig and they are likely to turn around and invest in players to develop we might someday be interested in.

Also not the first time where we walked away when the price was too high. Said El Mala seems a much better deal at these levels… which could allow us to pursue a top midfielder as well.

No, I doubt they’d be wasting their time with that. I don’t think Liverpool make a bid to a club without knowing the player wants to join. This has probably been going on for some time, sounding out what the player wants, and roughly what it will take for Leipzig to consider letting him go.

I say that’s way too much money for him; it’s better to give Chiesa a chance… :see_no_evil_monkey: :joy:

t’s a huge amount of money, but if they think he’s worth it and we can afford it, why not?
