Yan Diomande (Winger) RB Leipzig

I’m thinking that it is a step or two ahead of whatever is in the public domain. Ideally it is all but wrapped up, waiting to be announced after the second World Cup game.

We will overpay, but that’s the nature of the beast. Top talent, even if it doesn’t have the body of work behind it yet, has been fetching top dollar for a while now.

Get it done! Then look at the combined fees of Diomande and Munoz as the price for sorting out the wings for the duration. At that point it won’t look quite so steep.

So, he’s bipedal? Aren’t we all?

Anyway 71 posts since last I looked and he still isn’t a done deal. Come on Hughes, get the job done.

Hughes ‘magic’ appears to be just to pay about the going rate for top teir talent… i wouldnt have called it magic.

happy with the signings on an individual level, especially Wirtz, but i wouldnt have called anything hes doing as ‘magic’ like the era of Edwards

Getting any German player to turn down Bayern is a bit of a miracle.

I am probably in the minority here, won’t be keen on signing Diomande at that price. Players who peak early and rely on pace/power tend to have a shorter career due to injuries. We have seen this with Sterling, Owen, Torres. Yamal might be following the same trajectory. Not to mention, the chances of players leaving on a free after their contract ends are higher these days. What’s stopping PSG or Real from approaching the player when he turns 25? Thus, paying in excess of 100M for say the next 5-7 years doesn’t seem like a good investment.

I rather we sign the likes of Munoz for a lower fee. This aligns with our club’s long standing principle of not paying world record fees for the finished article.

To be fair it was the Italian Football association at a rather dark period.

Im not too bothered I do think better value can be found I suppose on the flip side if he turns out to be the next generational talent 100m will look like nothing.

Must have done it hard!

I have a feeling we will sell Gakpo to help finance Diomande.

Some reports say Diomonde will cost over 100 million euros and the initial bid of 100 was rejected.

Looks like Liverpool will need to go back in with a bigger offer to secure his signing.

We did sign Munoz. But Munoz is a left winger.
Looks like Diomande is slated to be the Salah replacement at right wing.
He will cost a pretty penny but we showed willingness to pay top price before when the player is projected to be a key piece for the future such as with Florian Wirtz.

His body definitely looks prepared for the rigors of the Premier League.
When you’re paying that much money it’s actually in your favor that the lad is ready to contribute right away and compete against grown men.

Another LFC purchase from the Leipzig production line. Naby, Konate and Dom. They probably know the strategy reject the first 2 offers and then it happens.

Fair points.

But transfer fees almost always are spread over multiple years. A 100m on paper might well be 25m per year over 4 years.

Unless , we are triggering the buy out clause and the selling club is insistent that everything is paid at front (which is rarely the case as well). Even if that were the case , there are still external companies who can pay the transfer fee upfront and we pay them back as per our schedule.

Is diomande expensive ? He most certainly is. But that’s due to the market getting inflated and clubs willing to spend speculation driven amounts on young up and coming talent.

Even Liverpool commiting to spending a total of 300 to 400m on this transfer window would mean that only 100m might be the actual money going out of the club in transfer fees this window.

And that’s before the outgoings are accounted for. Admittedly we would not get too much in terms of outgoings

I don’t understand why Klopp is being so difficult towards us in these negotiations.

Do you not remember the love we all gave to you Jurgen?

No worries about the ever rising costs for buying players, the fans would expect us to do it, we just need to increase revenue by increasing ticket prices…

I dont think so. We’re likely to see Chiesa leave so will be two wingers down already before counting Munoz’s arrival. Then we’re without Ekitike for much of the season, if not all of it, so unless Gakpo really wants out i cant see us selling.

Yep, nobody pays the full amount up front.

it´s all accounting.
