He wasn´t a tricky dribbler either but with his timing and his speed, he found a way past and he had a good end product. Diomande is a bit more fancy and a little less dynamic but similar in those ways.
Goncalo Ramos going from PSG to AC Milan. Italian teams don’t have a lot of money at the moment, but this was a hefty amount. (Did PSG back channel some dough to Milan in order to pad their own books?) Hmmm…
Now with PSG having a bit of financial margin according to the rules, I expect a hefty bid from them for Diomande. Ugh.
Mane’s style of dribbling at times was as you said “he found a way past”. My mate and I ended up describing it as him having ‘go, go, gadget legs’ after Dr. Gadget. He just seemed to have a canny ability, of being able to stretch/reach and move the ball despite it appearing impossible by eye.
Apparently PSG brought him for €65m which is quite a high fee, so Milan paying €74m is not a massive jump.
But, yeah Italian teams don’t usually spend that much money.
He is still young, Portuguese like Amorim, who is their new manager. A statement signing for Milan? There was also alleged competition from Ath. Madrid. At present I don’t see the benefit for Milan to pay much money unless they wanted him.
I’m just not sure why Diomande would choose to go to PSG to back up Kvaratskhelia, Dembele, and Doue. He comes to Liverpool and he’s a first choice starter.
Why? He’s at the WCup, Leipzig are waiting for a bid from PSG or others, our manager is still on holiday. I’d expect it to go on another couple of weeks.
It seems I am in the minority where I would swerve hard at this point. It is just too much to be paid - and I think we could upgrade by spreading that money around more.
I think if we can get Barcola for £75m by letting PSG get Diomande we would have done well by letting us upgrade on other areas of the squad.
Even experienced players like Wirtz may struggle in the PL. Not to mention a 19 year old with one year of top experience and weighed down by the pressure of a huge transfer price.
With our luck he could be injured in the first couple weeks hence I’m against paying that much for anyone.
Also, if signing him for 120 mil means we can´t get another important player we need, then it could also be worth going for Barcola or whoever. We only have finite resources and we have to use them the best way possible to get the best overall result.
I see this the other way. Replacing Mo with the best possible option is simply our no1 top priority this summer, and I’d rather see us put our resources towards that first and then make adjustments elsewhere if required.
