I wonder if there’s a point - meaning fee - where Liverpool’s transfer people just say no, or if they’re convinced this is their guy no matter what.
After their game last night, Diomande was apparently bigging up PSG and saying moving there would be a dream come true. So I don’t think we’re the front-runners here anyway.

Yeah, I just don’t see him choosing us over PSG as things currently stand.
I think the Guehi transfer shows that there is always a limit to how far we will go. For a 19 year old that we likely judge to be one of the elite players in his role that limit is probably pretty far.
I wonder more who our backup options are if this doesn’t go our way. This isn’t a situation where we can sit and wait for our man, we need bodies. I see Said El Mala’s deal to Brentford, which was agreed at 45m, just fell through. He’s a 19 year old winger with 13 Bundesliga goals this season but from the bits and pieces I’ve seen looks less versatile than Diamonde.

Really struggling to see the fuss over a player who has not really done anything to justify the price tag, plus we have just signed a manager who apparently has a knack of finding unheard of players and turn them into really good players, so why have him here if we are just going to be playing fantasy football manager ?
Seriously start looking for players that are just off the radar of most teams , and build from there, and the money saved can be used for more useful things.

Sometimes I don’t get it; we’ve already been through this kind of bidding war with Chelsea—even though we really should have known better, given that the player’s preference was already clear. But who knows what’s going on behind the scenes.

Wouldn’t shock me if that turns out to be Kvaratskhelia, with Diomande promised the starting LW role at PSG.

I read earlier that it’s apparently Olise.
It’s early in the window and Diomande indicated he wanted it all sorted before the World Cup starts. I think we are probably just shooting our shot, the key will be to have other players in mind to move on as the window progresses.
