IMO Kang-in Lee (PSG) is a good alternative, although it appears we’re looking at two-footed players…
It would be hilarious if runs on a campaign of bringing in world class players then brings in Konate, Dumfries and Fernandez.
Yeah there is always a line, it’s just that line for them may be very different than where fans would imagine it was. The line for Guehi was where it was because he seemingly in our view was not special, For Virgil we said “wait 6 months and add 20 million” because we saw a BIG gap between him and the next best available CB and so thought it was worth pushing the boat out.
How extravagant we’re willing to be here will be based not just on how good we think is and can soon be. But on how other potential targets compare to him.
150m you say - we also have an Argentinian world cup winning midfielder that you may be interested in President Perez
So we have become a team that is basically from football manager, the days of uncovering gems from lower leagues in this country / scotland is dead in regards to what made us successful in the past?
Iroala, appears to had a knack of finding players from anywhere for a fraction of the price and turn them into team players, but no we seem to want a superstar player in excess of £100 million because barring injury he could be messi levels?
Fuck that, seriously the salivating of spending obscene money for players on here is a joke, and then in away from home threads the same salivators moan about the rich people having an excessive lifestyle and how unfair it all is.
It looks like you’ll get your wish anyway.
Good fuck him🤣
If a kid can bring that kind of money, any agent including Family will have a budding superstar for a knockdown price of 120mm to sell.
God, imagine being young enough that PSG were the team that interested you as a child ![]()
I posted in the Youth Transfers thread that we’ve signed, or are expected to sign, these players in the last 12 months, so we are looking for diamonds in the rough. It’s just getting harder as once they progress to first team football everyone has access to the same data and so everyone is being guided to the same set of players.
- Mor Talla Ndiaye, 18, CB
- Sidy Barhama Ndiaye, 16, RW
- Ifeanwi Ndukwe, 18, CB
- Noah Adekoya, 19, CB
- Armin Pecsi, 20, GK
- Will Wright, 18, CF
- Matty Wright, 17, GK
- Darren Motsi, 15, RW
- Samuel Martinez, 17, AM
- Noah Dash Allen, 14, LW
- Zach Trinder, 14, GK
- Diego Pelembe, 16, CM
- Michael Mulholland, 15, CF
I agree with you it is obscene and I’d love to us do some good coaching work and develop a few stars rather than just going out and signing them - which I feel like has never really worked for this club.
One weird thing about that interview is he apparently said his dad is a PSG fan… having previously said his dad was a Liverpool fan.
The only reasonable conclusion is that his dad is Robbie Keane.
Who wrote that tripe for him,be a nice earner if he goes to PSG.
Tatty bye,kiddo!
Maybe his dad was an original football hipster and was one of those people who insisted Rai was better than his brother (Socrates)
Ill have to check it out, but thats the sort of thing we should be looking at, even if most dont make it here, if we move them on for a profit , that is good, but if we can develop a winning squad over time and continue that for decades as we saw under shanks, paisley etc…then the evolution of the team will always be moving.
Its only my opinion, but the thought of having young talent coming through is great, and to build a team that shares with the passion of lfc and the social aspect of the club to me is more important than would be individual superstars.
And when the manager genuinely wants to splash cash on an individual, then paying for it on someone like salah…would be worth it, regardless of his records now, the very fact that his love for the club was next level is great to see.
Anything above £100m I’d say let PSG have him.
It does beg the question of who we turn to next. Barcola gets mentioned a lot, but from my understanding he’s almost exclusively a LW. Which, while you can argue we have a need for, rules him out of replacing Mo imo.
Not sure who else is out there we could get who immediately steps into the team as first-choice.
Man not even the same galaxy as Messi. Come on.
This guy looks very promising and probably as a good a bet as any for a future world class winger.
But if the price gets to 100 mil plus that´s too much. He´s done nothing at any high level but the bigger picture is that we need to do a rebuild and we can´t be spunking half our money one player.
Barcola is the prototypical modern left winger - right footed and so starts wide with his body facing the pitch and looking to come inside onto his better foot. That is where he has played the majority of his football. But he has played a meaningful amount of football across the other roles in a front 3, or even as part of a front two at Lyon.
I dont know how much of that is a genuine reflection of his capacity to succeed at this level in those other roles or more just a case of a young player doing what was necessary for the team to get minutes (like Saka playing RB for a few games when he first broke through).
What does that mean about him being a potential replacement for Mo? We know we dont really just look at how well a player has played a role, but more model characteristics of what we need to see from a player to play in that role and so it’s entirely possible we’ve seen enough of him as a footballer to think he could be a first line RW. But I would feel far happier about Diomande being that guy than Barcola, said the idiot on the internet
