Our commentary kept banging on about city being on top (even before the red card) because their wide players were giving our FBs hell. Well
The xG Philosophy on X: "Before the red card: Liverpool (0.92) 0-0 (0.16) Man City" / X
what happened with Araujo that may have made him be a bit more passive in his 1-1 defending?
Like the rest of us I thought the lads give it their all until the red card which was a ridiculous decision. The biggest let down for me was the performance of Wirst. To think that we paid over a million pounds for the lad he just doesn’t look anywhere strong enough to play in the Premiership. Hopefully once we get the injured lads back to fitness they can sit him on the bench for a few games and try to build up some strength. At the moment he looks like a little lad playing against men. I really do hope that he can up his game.
I think it was a fair bit more…
Thats a great typo, I assume you mean Bratwurst? ![]()
Yeah. he’s a problem, and cant seem to open his legs and run, tends to just skip. He also looks scared, does well though at feigning tackles.
I am very annoyed that we DO NOT attack the ball.
We HAVE to attack it
I get people thinking Wirtz doesn’t do enough, and certainly that he loses the ball too meekly too often, but thought he did a lot of nice things today. Barcola was a passenger though and looked surprised by the lack of time he had on the ball. I get it’s still early days, but even 1 on 1 on the 4 or 5 opportunities he had it was just pretty naff
Sky drooling over Anderson with no mention that they dropped 116m on him when they already knew they’d been found guilty.
Everything about that game was a sham. The PL is basically WWE until they get this sorted
He played most of the game on a yellow, that’s what happened.
Won’t watch a second of those cheats. Farcical situation that this game, and probably every game they play this season, is entirely pointless.
Sounds like the lads gave a decent account of themselves up to the sending off. PL doing themselves no favours giving the game to Kavanaugh after the controversy in the game with them last season and here again he’s centre of attention.
Need some lads back to fitness as fixtures aren’t kind for a team finding its feet and missing a few.
Seriously don’t know if I’ve the heart or energy to put into this season.
You’re not the only one. Conversatijns at Anfield frequently turned to how much time and money goes into following LFC.
And if we have to see this sort of bent ref performing for the cheating team…then there is no point.
Thanks
This was the first yellow ![]()

Referee ruined the game as an absorbing spactacle with a thoroughly undeserved ‘by the rules’ red card that had nothing to do with the occasion or the spirit of the game.
That was bad and led to a predictable concession of three goals as we could not cope with the extra man. But I’m proud of the way the team fought until the end and the spirit they showed, so not really that upset by the result, especially considering we had our four best players missing.
No, what really made me gag was the behaviour of the City bench after the final whistle and their players to a lesser degree. Celebrating like that in the week they were found guilty of 115 corruption charges was nauseating for every football fan, no matter what club you support. Not a shred of humility from a bunch of arrogant, entitled numskulls wavving their balls in the face of the PL and football in general.
I was in the pub, sat next to a City fan who admitted the red card was a joke and we were enjoying the game throughout. But the scenes at the end brought to entire pub to silence, followed by a chorus of ‘what a bunch of cunts’.
The Anfield crowd were UP for it! They more than made up for our lack of seniors. Man City team were jittery and tetchy. We could have take them. And then the ref decisively took the crowd out of the equation
So Carra praises Grav for showing he was back to his best today, Iraola commended his performance post match. He’s currently joint top for MOTM on here but some lad on the internet thought he was bad…well ok then, we all stand corrected.
Nah I have been worried about him. Today he was on it.
Shame he was fucked over and at best those two tackles should have got a yellow. Especially considering what they didn’t get a yellow for.
Gravenberch. Did well skipping a few man city players in the first half but got largely negated for the rest of the first half with the opposition closing in on macca rather than Gravenberch. Iraola capitalised on this in the second half by pushing Gravenberch higher. However, Gravenberch’s penchant for consistently running into cul-de-sacs and not releasing the ball earlier came to bit our collective arse when one of his runs got predictably stopped with him running into a blue wall and City countered. Gravenberch then being so out of position made a clumsy challenge that got him a second yellow card. That precipitated our collapse. If he cannot get Slotball out of his system, I’m afraid he has no place in the starting lineup.
Heading to vote him now…

Ref ruined the game but the collapse was a joke.
Give it another few weeks/months…when he’s in the Northern League…he’ll be a bargain at a few thousand…
