Pre Match: Liverpool v. Brentford, 1400 UTC, Sunday 16 January 2022 (Premier League)

What I’m trying to say is, this match is consequential for us no matter what. But so many are talking about how this is inconsequential because City have won the Premier League somehow with almost half the season to go. That they are inevitable and will not drop points ever again.

Ignoring the fact that they haven’t been at that level to carry that momentum over a whole season since before we won the league, and that they’ve had to rely on some ridiculous refereeing, not to mention luck.

Sometimes people like to protect themselves from disappointment by assuming the worst case scenario is going to happen.

Personally, I’m all in. Come on the reds. Break my heart.

We need to win to stop a similar scenario to last season happening.

If the Ox is fit and given his chance tomorrow… he really does need to provide the goods for us…
Otherwise… just what is the point of keeping him.

Sometimes when things on the pitch don’t go as planned and we miss players a change of formation could be an option. Missing Salah and Mane means our wings are no working that well.

Playing 3-5-2 will give freedom to our wingbacks and we can use Firmino and Jota centrally where they are mostly effective.

For example - Alisson; Gomez - VvD - Matip; TAA - Fabinho - Henderson - Robbo; Firimno - Jota;

I wrote10 starters, the 11th could be Minamino /if Klopp decides to play 3-4-2-1/, or one between of Ox and Jones /if Klopp wants to play more typical 3-5-2/. Of course Konate is also a very good option to play instead of Gomez.

And this system will help us stop the aerial threat of Brentford, a team very similar to Stoke the way they play. Last match against them they used very effecively those long diagonal balls /behind Trent/ and won so many headers, while Toney dominated our center backs. With 3 central defenders and more physical approach from as and also letting TAA and Robbo being more adventurous offensively we could be much more creative. And on top of that - Jota will play as a forward, more centrally, not on the right side of our attack, where he is not at his best.

Our aim is to finish in top 4, the lack of quality in midfield must be compensated with better defending and being more efficient infront of goal. After we won vs. Newcastle, we are on a pretty poor run of form /very similar to last season as I wrote in another thread/ and we must stop it immediately.

It will be a very difficult match against a team which will defend deep in their own half and will rely on long balls and set pieces.

Going down the right so both hendo and trent can stay central or come in centrally. Pretty deft tactic imo.

Just realised that 3-0 wins don’t cut it any more, 3.3-0 or something is what is required!

This is one that we should walk, but my confidence is pretty fucking low lately :frowning:

already on 4-0, got to love an optimist

Just fet 3 points.

A nice early goals please

3 nil. Jota, Bobby’s 2

Said this in the PL thread yesterday. Whenever ManU bottles it this season and we make fun of them knowing that we are yet to play on the same weekend we also don’t win our games.

Could not resist. Watched Goldbridge this morning. We’re done. :zipper_mouth_face:

Unfortunately his career was delayed by the war and he spent the latter chunk of his playing days in a poor side in Division 2.

I just missed seeing him when I started going with my dad. He was still on the books but no longer a first choice

Brentford since November: LDWLDWLLLWWL, score: 16-19.

Form means nothing when teams play against us.

Forget AFCON
Forget pandemics
Forget protacted contract negotiations
Forget teasing transfer rumours
Forget the fucking world, injuries, oil rich cunt clubs, whinging North London fucks and everything.

Just fucking win today to lift the mood, a pre and in match thread that is a bit happier, a day without Thiago and Keita being jettisoned for a teenager, a day when our hearts rule and our heads rest.

Happy Birthday Taki
Have a nice rest

Time to bounce back after the results of the last few games and record our first win against a Premier League opposition in a month. Long overdue.

I would bench TAA, VVD and Robbo for this one and play Neco, Ibou and Kostas instead. Though I do not think Klopp will bench more than one of his loyal servants.

I hope it is now clear to Klopp that Milner might not be the best starting option today. Sure, he is a valuable option off the bench when we need to close games. Start Jones instead. Maybe even Ox instead of Hendo if none of the two is really needed in attack alongside Bobby and Jota.

I’m sure that Jürgen and his team will know the personnel, formation and tactics to see us through this game. COYR YNWA
